Default Ecoboost ticking on startup

I have a strange ticking noise on my 2013 ecoboost on startup. I have included a video of it the ticking is right after the stater disengages. It only does it when sitting overnight.

It sounds similar to the symptoms some have with a bad timing chain.

But, one question. Who does your oil changes and what filter is used. A filter with a bad anti drainback valve could cause low oil pressure at startup after long periods turned off. The timing chain is kept tight by oil pressure from what i understand.

The filter situation was true with the 5.4 and I assume the eco.

There have been reports of leaking hpfp causing major dilution of the oil. Oil level look OK?

Unless your dealer was using a non Ford filter. But that is doubtful

Hi kevin7898,

Have you contacted your dealer regarding this issue? Please pass on the current odometer reading; I will get the concern looked into. I recommend making an appointment with your dealer whenever possible. I look forward to your answer, my friend.

Oil filter is draining when it shouldn't be. Don't dick around waiting. Swap the filter out today and report your findings.

Does it smell like gas? If so, call your dealer and get it in.

Yeah, I just learned that Ford is doing something about this via TSB.

For all of us in the Frozen North (April snow showers bring June spring flowers), talk to the tech ask ask if he can leave the T-state heater in place when he installs the block heater (hopefully they do not need it for the warranty parts bin--in which case the tech will not be able to keep the old heater installed).

Anyway, my thinking is the more the merrier, heating element wise.
