Default Ecoboost startup noise

So I searched a few threads and looked at the ecoboost noise thread. Didn't sound anything like what I've got.

Background on truck, 2011 Ecoboost, no tuner or exhaust mods.

This noise started a few weeks ago, only happening occasionally. Now its more frequent. Goes away fairly quick usually. Sometimes it stays longer. No change in frequency with throttle or in gear. No loss of power or lights on dash either. Going to call the dealer tomorrow and bring it back in for it. Went in last weekend for the noise in the front, they thought I meant a brake squeel and replaced my front rotors (under warranty, so no complaints). No way to easily reproduce it either because it does it at random start ups. The sound is kinda like a circular saw and thats what you hear at the beginning of the audio track below.

Any ideas?

It's probably the vacuum pump.

I traded my 2011 Eco XLT for a 2011 Lariat and it's making a noise on startup too... Your noise sounds quite a bit different than mine though.

Going to dealer tomorrow... will let you know.

That's why I figured it wasn't a turbo issue. But vacuum pump seems fairly plausible. Will be making an appointment tomorrow to get it figured out.

There is a thread under the engines sub forum where people have a similar noise to that. Think it was timing chain related.

Yeah, I have read that one too... A mixture of timing chain and vacuum pumps. A couple new motors too, lol.

I see you are in Canada as well? Are you buying an ESP for your truck?

I got the ESP worked in when I bought it used. Have warranty longer than payments.
