2011 crew ecoboost f150. Bottom line this truck has the most power and the most pleasurable to drive of all my previous trucks. Fuel mileage 22 at 60 mph/ 20 at 65 mph/ 18 at 80 mph. Has ran perfect with 2500k. Went on a 6 hour road trip 400 mile one way and had two issues. On the way down 3 hrs into the trip a poke azz driving 40 was in front for several miles. I went to pass and nothing. Motor lost all power sputtered like no gas. It eventually came out of it and ran. One the way back about 300 miles later went to a poke azz mc donalds. Sat in drive thru for 10 mins. Gave the truck hell about 40 mph it fell on its face again. Still takes a few seconds but soon comes out of it. I guess my question is has anyone had the same problem. It seems to hapen about 4th gear. I always push the plus button after I start it just to see what gear the truck is in. hope the truck is ok and just hates poke azz people lol !!!

Not completely relevant but get the reflash. It makes it so the gear numbers are always there. And I live by the "fix what you know is broke" motto. Maybe it'll fix your other issues as well. I hammered on it once doing about 40mph and it freewheeled, wouldn't take the gear until I backed right off and gave it time to figure it out. Hasn't done that since the reflash though. Maybe you have a fuel pump issue? That'd be my guess.

Happened to me three times in one day a few weeks ago. In one instance the engine light came on. It was 100 degrees that day. When the engine light came on, I turned it off and restarted, it it worked fine after. Took it to the dealer the next day: no codes, as if nothing had happened. It hasn't happened since

Given Fords long history with unexplicably stalling engines in the past this might be a good post to "pin". That way EB owners with the issue would find it quickly. This could be very useful to see if this is an emerging widespread issue or just a fluke. Im sure Ford would like to know.

I had something similar happen about 2 weeks ago.....went to pass a truck on I78 (on an incline) and it fell flat on it's face...wouldn't go above 3000 rpm & the indicator said it was in 3rd gear. Another trip before this one (going to WV), I was getting a shuddering going up hill, in various places (60-70 mph range, using cruise control). I also have a very sooty tailpipe, occasional miss @ idle, and occasional rough idle @ stop lights/signs..

Took it in.....no codes, no problem found. They called the 'hotline' and the only they could think of is poor quality fuel.

Every time it happens from now on, it goes into the shop.

I would think on a fairly high compression AND high turbo boost engine like the EB that Ford has aggressively tuned the PCM to avoid pinging........maybe at just the right RPM, with just the right boost, combined with a bad tank of (maybe)85 octane, the engine is taking a moment to retard spark before giving you the full boost you have asked for...........just a SWAG on my part.......

Sorry to hear your issue, hope the reflash does the trick. Or the bad fuel theory. One thing to consider, the manual says to use premium fuel in hot weather and while towing. My first couple tanks were reg. gas but I've filled up with premium the last 3 times. I guess I don't need the eprom update cause my gears always display (truck was built on 6/3/11). I've got about 2400 miles and no problems so far.

I read some where that an EB ower had a COP go bad.

I had a COP go bad on my old V10 F250 & it did exhibit some of these issues (miss at idle, sooty tailpipe, etc.). The only thing is that it would throw a code until the COP went completly dead (then it has a mis-fire on cyl #).
