Default Boston Acoustics SR-80's install

Just installed my sr80s in my truck and what a difference! Here are some comparison pics from stock.

Had to zip tie the wiring harness adapter to the speaker because the window would hit when I would roll it down.

Heres a video of how clear these things sound, even on a ipod touch.
A little trick Erictheoracle taught me to remove the plastic bushing that guides the door lock in the door panel, goes a HECK of lot easier!

Are they a lot louder than stock now? because it seems like i have to turn my radio up really loud to be able to hear the music in my 2010.

I was planning on hitting your PM today to see if you had a chance to install the speakers and lo and behold, here you are. I'm glad you 'em.

I'm getting freaking tired of this stupid crap sound system, mostly lack of bass at higher volumes. Do these speakers combat the bass bottoming out?

They are a ton better than the stock speakers but a 4ch amp would make them sound perfect. I personally am going to run these off the stock stereo for a while until I get tired of it and buy a nice amp. As of now I like the sound I sat in it for a few minutes after I put them in and cranked it up (neighbors pry think im crazy) I was surprised at all the higher tones that these speakers put out. The drums really snap during songs and the bass hits fairly well on lower notes too. I purchased them from Erictheoracle on here for 120 shipped with the wiring harnesses. Excellent deal i thought!

Nice!

I ordered a couple of pairs of Rockford Fosgates off eBay. I'm not that critical about sound in my vehicles but it for $100 total, it should be better than stock. I did the polyfill mod and that made a nice difference so these should be perfect for me.

I wish I had a sub in the back, I like a little bass in the songs. I wonder how much a stock sub would cost? Do you think they are good enough?

I have no idea how much they would cost. Maybe someone here that upgraded their system has one for sale that you could pick up cheap. Not sure how it would connect to a system w/o the factory sub.

It definitely gives a decent low end punch with the polyfill. Audiophiles will probably think it's crap but I don't think it sounds that bad (I have some $$$ into a home theater with a Paradigm sub that sounds good).

I usually listen to NPR or news so having a great sound system isn't a priority but I do listen to music from time to time and I'd like to hear the music and not be muddled. I did notice the door speakers weren't that great but ok enough not to really want to upgrade until I saw a few threads here (thanks you bastards!!! ). I chose the Rockford Fosgate 1632's after reading a bunch of good reviews and being cheap, I figured it can't be any worse than stock.

Yeah I suppose the wires and the amp would be needed for the factory sub. I might just get an aftermarket sub and box, or maybe a powered sub. Anyone have any other input??
