Ecoboost maintenance?

Ecoboost maintenance?
Hello all,
I'm just wondering about what I should do to maintain the Ecoboost V6? I read somewhere that there is a lot of soot/ carbon that comes out of the tail pipes.
I'm wondering if I should use something like techron fuel injector cleaner or something similar to keep the injectors clean? I'd really like this truck to last me for about 20 years or so.
Edit: Also, what oil filters, oil would you guys recommend for the Ecoboost? Full synthetic?
About fuel, I plan on just running regular but would it really matter if I put premium in? Any noticeable difference?

check your manual for required maintanence.
check you pipe for black, minimal is normal. no need for fuel injectors. stock oil filter is fine (FL-500s) and I run Royal Purple 5w30 (5w30 is recommended). 87 octane is also recommended which is what I use (non-ethanol).
again, read your manual.

I wish there was something that made the oil filter easier to get to without a hoist.
That thing is really in a **** spot.

I have no issues without using my ramps, but yeah its in a ****ty spot!
Especially when it comes to cleaning up the oild spilled out from the oil filter! The leftover in the oil filter catch tray Always drains for a day through my skidplate onto the garage floor...

Exactly.
You can't look at it while installing the new filter and I'd you're not lined up you end up stabbing around (messing up the oil on the gasket) hitting hoses and whatnot - if a relocation wasn't so difficult I'd consider that, to me the drain isn't hard to get to - but anything to make it easier is good!

I've never lifted my truck on any ramps or anything and have changed the oil in my previous EB and current one without issue about 10 times. It's all in how you position yourself (depending on your size of course) and getting the right leverage. The oil filter is easily removed with a cap wrench and on the 13+ there is a hose running right next to the filter for the electronic BOV and if you use that as a guideline, you can easily stab the filter on there. The 11-12 trucks are certainly more difficult in that aspect.
To answer OP's questions......
1. Stick with the Motorcraft oil filter. It works just fine and is what is recommended and does not cause issue.
2. Get a good synthetic 5w-30 oil. Do not use any other weight. That is what is necessary for the EB. I have always used from day one on both of my EB's Pennzoil Platinum. It is one of the best you can get and is a very very reasonable price when compared to other comparable oils.
3. Get a Fumoto drain valve. It makes oil changes a snap. I can have my truck in the garage on the ground and in 20 minutes or so I can be done with the full change. It makes things quite easy.
Other than that, I would pull and check a spark plug every once in awhile to make sure they are still gapped at the .032". I wouldn't let a set of plugs go much past 30-40k miles, if that. Replace with Motorcraft SP-534 (cheapest on RockAuto.com) and enjoy

I'm running 5-20 RP right now - I usually run 5-30 but they didn't happen to have 6 QTS so 5-20 it was. Lol.
