Ecoboost Light Bar
Has anyone here with an Ecoboost, install a light bar in the intercooler opening? I am installing a light bar, and Raptor grill lights for a guy, and he insists I put the light bar there.
He purchased everything from F150LED(quality stuff IMO), and they said it's fine there..lol He tows a 5-6k lb boat a few weekends a month and I'm concerned it blocks too much airflow... I suggested a 32" or 42" light bar that they have for behind the grill. Does the grill block a lot of the light on these?
Anyone here agree/disagree..?

Edit: I didn't put one in the intercooler opening for worry about blocking airflow, but I don't know if would be an issue or not.

I have a 30" single row behind my 6 slat grill. It works very well, and if any light is blocked it's off to the side. Keep in mind, there are different grills, especially from 11/12s to 13/14s and different lights will work best for different grills.

I mounted mine between the two grill braces.

Do you have any pics of the lighting at night?

I wanted to put one in there, but I would not do it because airflow was more important to me than a light I would probably never actually use.

I have a light bar in my Ecoboost lower grill, just recently I decided to put a full race intercooler in. The effects are minimal for performance. I did notice it a bit on hot days though. I do not tow so take my advice with a grain of salt.
I had the dealership test it with the stock intercooler while it was still on they said temps were about 15 degrees above normal. That being said I watched my iat's on the highway before installing the full race one and I was staying within 10 degrees of ambient.
I have a 20" mounted in the lower bumper in case you were wondering.
