Is anybody running the AFe dual cone air intake or other, without a tune? I was at a performance shop today. Looking at the roush stage1 kit for my truck, but have warranty concerns with a tuner. Figured I might just run one of the top of the line AFe systems instead. Buddy said that he doesn't recommend it, as it might make the truck not run great, cause of air turbulence on the MAF, cause there is a bend right before the MAF.

But also, that it makes a big enough difference in air flow, that it might make fuel air ratio out of whack.

So, here's my question... Are any of you running an intake system ONLY with no other mods? Any difference in performance and sound? Does your truck run decent and what octane do you run?

I have a 2014 ecoboost. I'm wondering if it's worth the money. This way if something goes wrong I can just pull it out and not worry about warranty issues.

I too checked out the worth of putting an intake on my trucks and all members on the forum say...don't do it....unless your adding a tune and performance exhaust. You'll get nothing in return but a bit more noise.

I want to hear the turbos... . But it's probably not worth the money.

Go with a new downpipe if you want to hear the turbos...or delete the factory resonator in the exhaust. The intake won't change much in terms of turbo whistle.

Is the resonator the piece that looks like a front muffler? Will this do anything with drone in the cab? Are there any sensors that goes in there?

Just be careful you don't mess up your warranty.
Iif you want to hear the turbos, just put your foot into to it & save some Money.

Ye, I don't need warranty worries. Guess I might have to spend the money on that intake AFTER ALL..

I used to run the afe stage 2 until I bought an exhaust helped out on mpg's a little and I could hear the turbo's a lot more

intakes really don't increase the volume of turbo spool on these trucks. if anything the induction noise just drowns out the spooling. I put an Airaid on my Ecoboost and will probably be taking it back out and selling it because I have seen absolutely zero benefit from it, even with proper tuning.

yeah, more intake "woosh" sound, not turbo compression sound sadly. you get a bit off a downpipe and some from an exhaust from what i've seen. Sadly this is the nature of these specific turbos. smaller in general so when they get up to high speed its too high pitched to hear anymore.
