When I say manual, I mean pressing the door lock down with my finger and unlocking it from the outside of the truck with the key. Not using the lock/unlock switch on the drivers side. That switch does work for all doors except the drivers side.

Yes it does come on when the engine is running.

I went and bought a repair manual. I saw thus diagram but have no idea where it is on the truck. The ground is a definite possibility and I will check it when I get home.

I'd have a look at the "door ajar" situation, first.

Check the switch. A jumper across pins 5 and 6, should eliminate the "door ajar" message. Also, the ground wire appears, again.

Shortstack you are not alone. My truck starred doing this about 2 months ago. It's the damnedest thing. Some days all four doors will lock and unlock then the drivers door will go for awhile not doing anything. Right now it's on a lock kick,it will lock but will not unlock. I just haven't had a chance to try and chase it down.

In your case, I'd look for bad connections in the connectors.

Why? It only says it when the door is open. If the door is shut the "door ajar" shuts off!

Mines not going crazy like that yet... It's quite an annoying problem.
