Unfortunately, for me, I'm no better off today than 5 months ago when I bought the truck brand new. I had the bottom seat cushion replaced under warranty and that didn't help. I adjusted the seat 250 different ways and that didn't help. I spent a couple hundred dollars to have an upholstery shop rework the button cushion....added cushion to the center etc. and that didn't help. I ended up removing all of that extra padding because it actually seemed worse after awhile. I'm actually going to physical therapy now to try and help with the pain I get while sitting in the damn seat. I commute a hour to work and after 20 minutes the pain in my left thigh starts. It only happens while in this truck driving the same commute....no other vehicle bothers me at all. Sadly, I think my next step will be trading the truck in for something else....lesson learned.

The seat appears to mount on dense plastic or steal bars under the foam. While sitting in the seat it feals like my left side it riding right on this bar. I'm 250lbs and 6 foot. Big guy, but not huge in my opinion. It probably doesn't help that it's the left side and that foam gets a little more work when I get in and out of the truck.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or has anyone took these seats apart? If I reach under the right side of the foam I can feel the bar. I'm curious if I could load some dense material on top of this bar to ease the pain. Or put some more foam in the left side of the seat. Not sure what to do at this point.

The last thing I thought about was not liking the seat or having trouble in it. I have own 10 vehicles and have never has an issue like this. There just isn't a lot of foam between the driver and the bar IMO.

Any advice is helpful. Thanks.
If anyone wants to know what I did to improve my drivers seat in the Ford f-150 AND a couple of pictures, you can e-mail me at jlineman@gmail.com. Works out better that way because I still have not figured out how to attach pictured to this forum. I will say that my seats were cloth and the repairs involved beefing up the suspension springs so I didn't sag so far down as to let my legs ride against the frame, which by the way has a definate rise just about where your thighs are. I am 5'10 and 215 lbs. I too had messed with ALL sorts of foam of different thickness and density but nothing helped until I beefed up the springs. The problem I had with adding enough foam to keep me off the rise in the frame was that it made the cushion so tall that it cut me at the knees. I got the idea from a person that has a firm that builds seats for different manufactures, to their specs, and he sent me pictures and suspension test of the Ford and Dodge seats. That's where I saw that Ford was lacking in the amount of spring suspension compared to Dodge. I found the Dodge seat far more comfortable. Unfortunately I didn't figure this out until I had sciatic nerve damage. I put 109,000 on a 03 Ford with never a complaint.! The repair is relative simple once you get the seat apart but I am not going to say it will help everyone.
Glad to help if anyone wants to e-mail me.

Been there...done that. I found the problem to be in the springs. Not enough support. I don't know how to attach pictures to this forum so if you want to send me an e-mail I will send pictures of what I did and an explanation.

FWIW - Here is what a Mercury Marauder owner did to boost his front seats ...
Had The MM interior apart for a serious cleaning today. Took the drivers seat out and looked around for a way to bolster the seat bottom so my butt don't bounce and make that anoying clicking and bottom out.

Found a work out weird thing the wife bought which was a peice of 1/8" fiber class with a rubber handle in the middle that your supposed to shake or something to get a whip action.

Well anyhow cutr it into 3 parts debured it and slipped it under the springs (very easy to do) and man now I got some support!

If anyone wanted to do this I think a tupperware lid cut into 2" wide strips X 12" lomg would work just as good.

You can see the 3 yellow strips installed.

If you have a seat that bottoms out or just seams to soft you can slip a flexable material under the wire springs with very little effort.

Oh yeah, Jim, I forgot to mention this in my post above....I did your suggestion and it didn't help me. I added the spring clips on the 4 zig-zag ford seat springs. I used a thick gauge steel wire. I think I'm SOL.

Then added the clazzio covers that had some additional foam Including memory foam. I think I'm happy now. Time will tell
Make no mistake my repair doesn't make it a dream seat, just better. I think the additional springs for support was probably the biggest impact. The memory foam built in the clazzio covers was second. The foam I added helped but may not have had a major impact. The carpet just may keep the foam from cutting into the springs over time. I've never owned anything but a ford truck and I'm 42. The seat is a bad design IMHO. Raised frame on the sides with crappy foam and no support. I never dreamed my 2011 would have terrible Seats as all my previous fords were fine.

Default I didn't want to say anything, but...

Wow, gotta love the forums! 2013 SCab XLT 4x4, Towing package, Leer Cap, Gorgeous Gem Green. Just had it's first birthday at 28,000 miles and I LOVE it! In 13 months the only work I've had done was 5 oil changes/maintenance checks (dealer service). Most trouble free truck I've ever had, so I really hate to jinx it, but... I spend a lot time in my truck, mostly on the highway, and the seat is killing me! I have the six way power bucket seat with the lumbar support **** and I find that after driving a half hour or so, I'm constantly fiddling with the adjustments trying to find some spot that doesn't send my lower back into spasm. I'm not a big guy 6'-1", 210#. I've tried sitting on towels, pillows, even my jacket. I've adjusted the seat bottom six ways to Sunday and had the back all the way through it's range. (I won't even START ranting about the ridiculous headrest position when the seat is upright!). The last tweak I've performed was to raise the rear of the seat 1" with spacers which seems to have made the most noticeable difference, but it's by no means even approaching comfortable. Had Ford trucks all my life, the last one being a '96 Eddie Bauer short bed. I drove that one 300,000 miles on a bench seat with no complaints. This seat felt great when it was new, as most do, but its gotten progressively worse as the miles pile up. I really hate to think about spending $200-$300 to reupholster a seat after one year on a $35,000 truck. Are you listening, Mother Ford?

2013 F150 XLT 4x4 5.0.

Not even 10K miles on the truck, and...

...my back feels fine. And I've had back surgery.

I love my truck but the seat is so uncomfortable... I have to adjust the seat every which way I can, it hurts my knees and it hurts other areas! I love my truck but it's brutal on long trips. It's gotten to point were I only drive it when I need a truck. It's a 2010 with 22k miles.
