Default GPS Not Working

Hi All, well I have owned my 2011 for 3 years. The GPS has never worked accurately. It can show me 3-4 hours away from my physical location. Lately it shows me in a different state.

I just purchased the latest software and map update disc's. I uploaded it successfully but no change.

Any thoughts, suggestions or ideas.

Thanks Mark

GPS works by your device receiving the transmission(s) from the satellites in orbit. It appears that your unit is and has always been defective, and no amount of 'updating' will fix it...you need a new unit. Somehow your device is not interpreting the GPS signals correctly.

There is a master reset in the audio/nav system you could try. It seems to do some different things than other resets. Others are: (1) unhooking the battery for 15 minutes, which I'm assuming has happened in 3 years, so very doubtful it would do anything. And (2) an ACM reset via forscan.

I doubt any of these will solve that issue, but they are cheaper to start than finding a replacement ACM, if you haven't done them already. Otherwise, ACMs seem to be a common problem area. I had to replace mine within mfgr warranty because the CD player died. Many other ACM problems have been discussed here for various reasons.

Thanks for the great info. Yes the battery has been disconnected. I'm not sure what ACM stands for? Thanks Mark

Audio Control Module

Should be what controls the GPS, from my info.
