So I go to open my door the other day and the wind takes handle right out of my hand and slams door all the way open, now door wont shut unless you slam it,with driver door open showing on info screen. With all the bad weather we've had thought maybe ice or snow packed in door gasket but no it's clean and clear. I see some male torx screws on the door hinges and if I can find a warm garage that my truck will fit in today gonna see what I can do to adjust for proper closeure. What really chaps me is in 31 years of driving assorted Fords and Chevy's I've never had this problem before, I mean are these hinges made of tin or what?

In windy places it happens all the time... park with your front end into the wind or hang on to door tight *(edit... at wind speeds over 40 mph good luck holding onto that door)*...


I have seen this happen on any vehicle even 20 years ago it was common... bad news is your door is messed up more than likely. Not sure if it bends the hinges, door or where it mounts to the cab.. or all 3

I agree with Byte,,, I would say stop by the dealer body shop and have them readjust it or see what is the issue.... They have a tool for adjusting bad hinges.

My old truck the passenger good got pushed forward when my passenger was exiting and another driver pulled into the spot next to him. It bent the hinges, damaged the limiter, and in my case bent the outer skin of the door and caused slight damage on the fender. Repair was about $2500.

Sounds like a less severe version of the same thing without the body damage.
