I have had my Bak Flip HD for a Year now,

In the beginning, it leaked alittle but it was winter time so I didn't bother with it, once it warmed up and the rubber was softer I then adjusted my Cover.

I have the weather strip on the front , and I have drop in box liner, I slide mine back 1/2" from where it was so that the rubber on the tailgate is on the highest point, and the front rubber has a sharp grade to it so water falls very quickly .

Now it doesn't leak a drop, I held my Preasure washer at the seems and seems good

we had to do the same for my buddies F1 he just got...he hauls his tools in there so need to be water tight....

The next thing we are doing is going to pur a piece of aluminum channel in front of Both Wires to make them less easy to get a wire in there to open....Im if they want to get in they will it just makes it a little harder to grab the wire(s) plus with the new adjust I did, there is not as big of gap between tailgate and cover.

I got a chance to look closer at the install the Ford Dealer did on my Ford branded F1 bakflip. I knew it would leak at the front corners and when tested, it certainly did.
Note: 2013 F150, drop in Ford boxliner.
I am interested in getting some backup opinions to make sure I am problem solving properly.

Likely Problem #1: The right angle aluminum front corners of the tonneau bumps up against the curved edge of the box liner. This prevents the leading edge of the tonneau from squeezing the moulding that is stuck to the front edge of the box liner.

I could move the cover rear-ward a bit but then the front rubber seal won't line up. It was poorly installed - not exactly a straight line and perhaps too far forward. I could take it off and put new sticky tape on it and move it back abit. The other option could be to file the sharp corners of the tonneau so it no longer bites into the box liner edge.

Possible Problem #2: the front seal that is stuck to the box liner does not extend all the way rail to rail. There is open areas for water to get in at the corners. How could you seal up these areas? Should the rubber on the box liner be all the way from rail to rail?

The Upper Pic shows the rubber not on the ribbed part on the top of the tailgate......It leaked

Second Pic the rubber is on the rib, and took a heat gun and it molded to the the tailgate step, and now doesn't leak, like I said I had to keep it tight to the tailgate the cross bar is like 1/16 gap....

But I think it all depands on the rails by reading a lot of these Flips......

My Buddies F1 the bars for when its propped up wouldn't work, and has to cut them shorter....mine were fine..

What does not leak? When I had my Avalanche, the panels on it leaked. I haven't got anything yet. But I do know I want BedRug. So finding something that does not leak would be nice. Any one on here have any problems with Bedrug when it gets wet? Does it mildew?

No problems with mine, I have the G2 and bedrug. Water beads up on it and it is a foam base so it doesn't absorb water. Now my drain tubes have mold and mildew in them lol

Mine leaks slightly at the step on tailgate and some in the corners at the front of the bed but not enough that things get soaked. I keep stuff back there 24/7 and I just keep it centered and no problems with rain.

Just go buy some new weather stripping and make it go all the way. These covers do need tweaked to get them as water resistant as possible.

Nope, just leave it be. I assume you could but would be worried about getting the tubes on and off of the plastic nipples that are attached to the rails.

There is no foul odors or anything.
