Do you think my 2010 F-150 SuperCrew could be Totaled? Pics included.
I had a collision in my 2010 F-150 SuperCrew on 11/01/11 on Hwy 410 East of the Summit on Chinook Pass Washington state, while by myself.
A big boulder rolled off the hill right in front of and I hit it at 50 MPH.
Boulder is still in the roadway in background of pic’s.
No chance to even take my foot off the gas.
Both the Airbag deployed and the seat belt fired.
You can see the fluid trail on the road.
Only have 13336 miles on it.
The truck did well in absorbing the impact.
Is any info such as vehicle speed at time of deployment stored on the computer?
This could be useful to determine any unseen damages.
Anybody know what the frames can take on this truck?
Lateral damage, as the boulder was traveling right to left.
I don’t want to repair the truck if there could be hidden damage.
No confidence it could survive another impact such as this one, or if I have a passenger.
Please let me know of any experience you may have had in this situation.
Insurance shop is evaluating it now.
Thanks in Advance.

I'm sorry to hear that, I hope you're ok. For it being a total loss it's a tough call. My buddy got in an accident with his brand new 08 2 years ago. Similar damage to yours, guy hit him head on. $15'000 in damage and they fixed it. But his had no frame damage. Just cosmetic and a few engine components.
If they fix it don't worry, it will not weaken the truck.

Looks like its a definate possibility. My old Chevy had similiar damage in a head on collision. Insurance adjust found 25k worth of damage. Paid 28 for the truck. Got myself the ecoboost afterwards

I'm a body shop estimator in wis. and in my opinion its not even close to being a total loss. The frames on these are pretty stout and even if it needed a new frame the trucks worth enough to put one under it. But it sure sucks to happen to your truck.

I agree, doesn't look no where near totaled. Maybe 10K in damage but that isn't no where near what your truck is worth.

Wow! First, sorry you had to go through this; it is the type of accident which may give you some dreams for some time to come.
Next, it does speak well to the construction of our trucks and the safety features therein!!
This is just one of the reasons this is my primary vehicle type.
Can you imagine striking that boulder at 50 mph in a sedan!?

Its hard to say if it is or not. Depends on what the engine looks like. I know in California, if the airbag is deployed on a front end collision like that, the insurance companies take that into a big consideration. Did the truck still run after you hit the boulder by chance?
On that note though, I can see maybe 15k in damages, and your truck is worth way more than that. But thats only on the surface.
