Yes, I trust my Camera. It lights up very well at night. No issues. Very bright.
2014 Lariat.
Interesting..sounds like I shoulda bought a platinum camera instead of aux. backup lights... maybe they cheap out on the fx4 camera

Nah...I added Rigid SRMs to my Platinum. I needed to see areas beside & behind the truck through the tints. Helps with the cam too.

If I'm backing into a street I still turn and look, otherwise it's the camera and mirrors.

As noted re: mailboxes, it doesn't see everything. Trust it completely and you'll be surprised at some point.

I backed up this summer across a road (single lane in each direction), and when I crested the crown and then was angling down I could not see our beater parked in the driveway. Caught it's grill with the corner of the bumper.

Use it, use the mirrors, AND turn around.

I am considering adding lights as in the dark it's not ideal. Wiper would be nice too especially in the winter.

So this is the same camera/truck but with the addition of aux lights only? Or a different truck/camera w aux lights? If that's the difference with just aux lights I'm getting some ASAP!

Same truck. .photo taken at same spot...seconds apart with aux lights on vs the stock reverse.
Only reason I thought maybe the platinum had a better camera is that a buddy has a 14 expedition and his camera looks like the better picture with his all stock...better cameras can see good in little to no lighting. I had a better camera on my lexus (oem) and on my jeep (after market)
Anyway tap auto vendor this forum has the light kits. I've got the sr-q. They have an sr-q2 that is 2 times brighter!
Besides the camera being good. .They are excellent for rear mirrors and all visual! I have mine hidden..they do make a flush bumper mount that will light up a baseball field

I always look while backing. I glance at the mirrors and camera before starting and occasionally for reference.

The camera was a necessary add-on for hooking up the boat. 10x easier.

This is my first vehicle with a camera, it points almost straight down and has a pronounced "fish-eye" effect on the sides, I don't trust to it to give me any perspective at all. I'll use it to make sure nothing is directly behind me, but the old Mk1 Eyeball is hard to beat.
