Dissapointed with payload capacity
#31
I use to work in construction as a siding installer. We used a trailer for heavy loads and used our trucks for the light stuff (1200 lbs or lighter). Trust me, once you start using a trailer for work you will love it. Much easier to load and unload and you can carry a good 3000 lbs or so.

be careful when you buy a trailer, it may come with a 3500 lb. axle but the bed may not carry that much weight. the F150's with the 7 lug wheels are probably the truck with a 3100 payload pkg.

Link to Ford PDF with capacities:

Says up to 3100lb payload but I'll be darned if I can find it on that sheet.
Here it is for the 2014's:
http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/payload/
It's a 4X2 short bed with the heavy duty payload package.
My 2011 XLT Supercab long bed is about 2,2210 on the door sticker.
That's people and cargo.

Another great thing about a trailer is not having to worry about dents and scratches on your truck.
You can pick up used trailers on craigslist for great deals, beat the **** out of them and not worry about scratching the paint or dinging the tailgate/bedside. Just throw stuff into it and keep the truck looking good for longer
And of course, like KBS said, the lower load height is so much nicer, ramps, etc.

Your opinion was voided with me when I read that you have an ecoboost and "miss the 350 v8 power from your 98 gmc. " unless it was built up with aftermarket goodies, I don't see how it would even scratch the surface of being as powerful as our 5.0, much less as torquey as the ecoboost.

Frankly, I do think is is your fault a little. I think it is your salespersons fault more. I sold Ford's for over 12 years. The first thing you ALWAYS do when someone is looking at trucks is ask them how they use it. What they haul, what they tow, how much, how often..etc. Then you recommend a truck that will be equipped right for the customer. Major salesperson fail IMO.
