I am def considering getting a trailer this summer, my dad wants one for his trips up north so we've talked about splitting one, I wouldn't need it everyday so might help with splitting the cost

be careful when you buy a trailer, it may come with a 3500 lb. axle but the bed may not carry that much weight. the F150's with the 7 lug wheels are probably the truck with a 3100 payload pkg.

Link to Ford PDF with capacities:
http://www.ford.com/resources/ford/g...rv&tt_f150.pdf
Says up to 3100lb payload but I'll be darned if I can find it on that sheet.

Here it is for the 2014's:
http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/payload/
It's a 4X2 short bed with the heavy duty payload package.

My 2011 XLT Supercab long bed is about 2,2210 on the door sticker.
That's people and cargo.

Another great thing about a trailer is not having to worry about dents and scratches on your truck.
You can pick up used trailers on craigslist for great deals, beat the **** out of them and not worry about scratching the paint or dinging the tailgate/bedside. Just throw stuff into it and keep the truck looking good for longer
And of course, like KBS said, the lower load height is so much nicer, ramps, etc.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe it just sounded powerful...

Frankly, I do think is is your fault a little. I think it is your salespersons fault more. I sold Ford's for over 12 years. The first thing you ALWAYS do when someone is looking at trucks is ask them how they use it. What they haul, what they tow, how much, how often..etc. Then you recommend a truck that will be equipped right for the customer. Major salesperson fail IMO.
