Default Disappointing fuel mileage

Well I traded my '13 in a couple months back for basically the same truck just in an extended can version. Same engine, color etc only main difference is 3.55 gears vs 3.31 gears but I now have the factory 20" wheels so the engine Rpms are very close to the same. I've put almost 3k miles on it and the mileage is terrible. It's a 2014 stx sport with the 5.0 engine. The best I have been able to get was driving back home to visit family, I'd say my average speed was around 65 mph. On that trip I reset the mpg counter as soon as I hit the hwy and once I got back home it said 16.8 mpg. There was about 3-4 red lights I had to stop at otherwise it was between 55 mph and 70 mph cruise speed. Also this was a 320 mile round trip. Running back and forth to work I am averaging around 15-15.2 or according to the cluster when I fill up about 370-380 miles per tank. My old truck running the same route nothing different would average 18.5-19.2 depending on the wind that day and going back home open hwy it would get 23-24 mph. This is very disappointing as according to the sticker it should average 17 mph and around 20 hwy. I have since tuned and added a catback exhaust and gained maybe .5 mpg going to work..

Anyone else experience this?

You should experience some mpg gains if you drive to the Toyota dealership and buy a Prius

I have a 14 STX 5.0 and averaged 21 on the highway at 65.
Soften up the foot and don't tow a 8k trailer.

Mileage sounds about right to me. Gears do make a difference. I get 14 around town and 18 highway

On the long trip the truck was empty minus my daughter, wife and myself. Cruise was used probably 95% of the trip. Just topped off my tank after work and averaged 15.6 on last weeks tank to and from work. Foot is as soft as possible. I usually have people tailgating me from stop lights for driving like a grandpa.

I could see a small loss between the trucks with one being a regular cab and the other an extended cab but ~4 mpg loss to and from work with nothing changed man that takes a huge hit on the wallet I wasn't expecting. Guess I'll just lick my wounds and keep filling her up. The extra space has been really nice not to mention I love having a console over a middle seat..

Oh forgot to mention I run 93 octane fuel at all times. Only once did I decide to try e85, man the mileage really dropped!! That tank to and from work it got ~9.5-10 mpg!!

2K miles on my 2014 STX.

Currently sitting at 20.8 MPG. Driving habits are a huge factor. Do not stomp on the gas or breaks.

I would be happy to get 18-19 mpg hwy but setting cruise at 65-70 with straight hwy and 0 stop and go I almost got 17... Lately I've been using the mpg bars on the cluster to try and help out but cruising 60-65 to and from work with 4 stop lights in between it usually stays between 2-3 bars and rarely goes to 4 or 5 only when I let off and am coasting to a stop.

I have a 2014 stx sport 4x4 crew cab with 3.55 and highway was 19.5 to 20.8 at 70. and 15.8 to 16.8 in town driving. If I drove easy on the highway I could get 21.5.
