Default Didn't think it would take 3 days

Brought my truck into the dealership thinking that because my front speakers weren't working and that I gave them a TSB about what the possible problem might be that they would still have it.

I brought it in Monday morning and by that afternoon they called me and said they had internet problems all day and weren't able to research the TSB or any others. So I left it for another day.

Today, they still haven't figured out the problem and need to keep it another day.

I thought this would a pretty cut and dry problem that they've had before and wouldn't drag out this long. I hope this doesn't cost me an arm and leg for this.

Sounds like they're putting your truck on the back burner

Well the dealership says that the replacement speakers are too much for the factory wiring.

They got one of the speakers working again. They wanted to replace them with factory speakers. Guess I need to test the speaker and make sure it isn't screwed up or something.

Wow, amazing for it to take that long for a speaker issue. What is the TSB for the issue? Curious

The one I saw was TSB 12-11-4.

On my 2011 XLT it meant replacing the speaker wiring harness as many of them were defective. It appears that moisture caused corrosion. They use the absolute bare minimum cheesy speaker wire possible. I'm surprised it carries the limited current the stock head units produce.

Dealer is more than likely covering his ***... There could be verbiage in the TSB regarding aftermarket speakers and the dealer needs to have the clarification on that so this fix doesn't get denied by Ford to reimburse him for the TSB repair. If the TSB only addresses a corrosion issue then they will certainly replace the harness. (Corrosion would occur regardless of the speaker) If the speaker still doesn't work then any further time may be on your dime since the speakers aren't stock or you're out of warranty.
Sometimes electrical issues aren't as cut and dry as they appear.

Well I finally had some time to look at this issue myself. Thought about moving the rear speaker to the front and see if that was the issue. What do you know! The rear speaker isn't even connected! I know I connected it when I put them in.

So now I thought, let's try swapping out the connectors, that to go from the Ford factory connectors to an aftermarket speaker, and what do you know! It works! Connected the rear speaker, it works!

So, while I'm on a roll, let's do the other side too. I now have 4 working speakers again.

I have no clue as to why they quit working in the first place.

99% sure it would be from water entering the doors making for a intermittent connection on the speaker terminals. Your best bet would be to either hard wire the connections to the speaker or put a good bit of di-electric grease inside the factory connectors to keep this from happening again. Probally around 1k+ or more posts about this issue on the board.
