I thought CNN just said 2013 was a great year for car sales. December was sluggish depending on the brand.

Ford posted a modest rise in December sales that was weaker than forecasts. But that was enough to lift its full-year U.S. sales by 11%. Ford (F, Fortune 500) will probably post the largest market share gain of any of the Detroit automakers when the final numbers are reported.

One thing guys need to realize is the F150 is the best selling vehicle , not just truck but vehicle in America. Do you think Dealers are concerned about selling/trading-ins on the F150's? That is like asking if Honda is worried about selling Accords. You think Ford dealers are hard on price, go see what a Honda will discount on the Accord. The great thing about buying a F150 is the huge rebates and discounts and the worse thing about the trade-in of a F150 is the huge rebates and discounts on new F150's.. It is what it is..

Speaking from an STX sale, I think they don't care on those. Low profit margin on such a baseline truck?

Doesn't make sense to me. Dealers in my area keep a good selection of STX's on their lots, and are ready to deal. Of course you can't turn around, and not bump into an XLT. They are best sellers around here.

I'm not sure what the deal was/is. One place had 8 of the same truck in three different colors, but wouldn't budge on price. And the other place only had one. I just wanted a fairly basic truck; we have bells and whistles in our CX9. We're looking to get a boat this spring and I figured the end of year would be a good time to get a truck for towing it. I do have a 79 Bronco, but it needs a little lovin' and I definitely miss the utility of a truck. No hurry, so maybe they will decide to sell me one someday...

If they have an Internet price listed they stay pretty close to that. You need to send an e-mail to 4 or five dealerships with the specs you want and let them send you their price. Narrow it down to two that you actually talk/negotiate with.

I took delivery of my 2013 SCREW on Dec. 27th. My salesman was working very hard to find my specific truck and had to get it from Indiana, and I live in Michigan. I do believe some think they don't need to work hard because the trucks sell so well.

Why don't you buy an xlt? They seem to be dealing on those.

BarryT82, that's just what I was thinking. In my area they are selling XLT's at great prices.

If your $25k isn't good enough for these guys, then find someone who will take it. My dealer is great, but the one in the town I live in is hopeless....mush like the 2 in your examples.
