Default Just Purchased / Questions about the recent rebates

I just purchased my first ever brand new vehicle. 2010 F-150 XLT.

My question is in regards to the recent rebates Ford has been offering. (See attached image)

On July 5th, I purchased an XLT with Sync/Chrome/Tow package and financed through Ford Motor Credit. Shouldn't I have been credited with the full $7500 in rebates? On my contract is only states $5500 in rebates. I feel I was hoodwinked somewhere along the line... The window sticker does mention a $1000 rebate for SYNC & TOW, but is that even part of the official rebate that is mentioned in my attachment? It's all a bit confusing. Thanks for any insight, and thanks for what looks to be a great website and resource!

I hate to be honest, but 5500 in rebates compared to what most got isn't that great. And if you happen to be military/USAA member or the company you work for happens to have an agreement with Ford (corporate) you could have gotten a better deal.
But with all that being said, still congratulations on the new ride. I've had mine since March, and it is the greatest thing since sliced bread in my opinion. Don't let the rebate ruin the greatness of that truck.

Does the $2000 XLT package discount show up on the window sticker?

Behemoth $5500 in rebates is very good, but he should have been able to negotiate several thousand more off of sticker with the dealer.

The $2,000 in rebates should show up on your window sticker. Not really a rebate as much as it is a package discount, but Ford's not the only one doing the same type of marketing.

Yes, we were able to negotiate it down from the 35,700 sticker to around 32k (think I could've gone much more?) Then the 5500 in rebates were added.

The ONLY discount on the sticker says, "XLT SYNC CHROME & TOW D - $1000". I assume the "D" is for Discount. On my contract, it states $5500 in Factory Rebates. I guess I can understand if the $1000 on the sticker is part of the rebates, but in the advertisement that is attached above, it states $2000 for this XLT package discount(PGM #97126). So basically it would appear that I'm missing $1000 in rebate that I should have received, no?

I wouldn't dwell on the situation to much. You got a new truck, it is awesome, and it's what you wanted. It's not like you could change your paperwork and receive the extra money anyways. Sure, someone will chime in and state that you can go and fight for that money, but it would be a huge hassle.

As far as your comment about talking them down? It all depends on how much the dealer wants to move inventory. I bought a 2010 FX2 about 3 weeks ago that was stickered at $37,895. I walked out the door, TTL and everything for $27,655, plus they threw in a year worth of free car washes and 3 years standard maintenence from the dealer.

Did I get a good deal? Absolutely. Could it be beat? Sure it could, there was more money to play with butI was sick of haggling back and forth for the last month and wanted the truck.

In the end, as long as you feel you made the right decision and can live with it, you are fine. It's nearly impossible to compare prices of anything from one person to another, even if you go to the same dealership. Some people get real lucky on older inventory that needs to move, some people aren't good at bargaining, etc. Too many variables for comparison.

But, as others said, enjoy the new ride, I am sure you are gonna love it!

So wait, you got 3700 off then the 5500 in rebates? I'd say 9000 off was a good deal. I originally thought that you meant you only got the 5500 off, hence my original concern. I'm sure some of that 3700 was more of the rebates/old age money, but either way the total was a great deal.

Really? Ok you might be making me feel a little better then.. I thought the rebates were strictly out of Ford's pocket and did not affect the dealer, so I thought you meant people were haggling down 8-9k off sticker, and then applying the rebates... It's still strange that the promo says 2000 off for the XLT Chrome/Sync/Tow package, but the window stickers only say 1000....

Couple of things:

1. Discount is not a rebate
2. Rebates are considered after you negotiate $$$ off MSRP
3. The deal sheet you signed should have listed the rebates considered
(that was the time to ask questions, not now)

Today, if you ended up $9000 or more off the MSRP you did pretty good.
The deal you make is good if you are happy when you drive out in your new F150...You should be happy with your deal. Never look back at your deal and compare with what is being offered 2 weeks or a month later...you did good for the time you bought your truck...

Now, how about a few pics of your new Ford F150...

Good luck on your new truck! Enjoy.

Live and learn. We all had to along the way (and still have to!).

Thanks
