yes, because we all have our own private garages and a convenient legal method of disposing of the old oil.

ignorance at its finest.

The 5.0 takes almost 8 quarts of oil!? I thought my 2012 ram hemi was bad at 7 qts. Of course my bike takes 4 quarts and its a 950cc engine. lol

(years ago i had a company car that was serviced by our garage ... heard a rattling one day in the front/pax side ... popped the hubcap, and 3 of 5 lugnuts were totally off just rolling around inside. Lesson learned - i'd hate for a front tire to fall off at interstate speeds)
Just to defend my brothers in the auto repair industry WHEELS do come loose. In every owner manual now it says to retourque your wheels after 100 kms. And I would be keeping a close watch on the oil level because I've seen engines burn a lot of oil after a change for no reason at all. None of this is uncommon and most never check there oil between changes. This is where self serve gas stations that it's on you to check your oil is failing the mortorist. Bring back full serve where they ask to check it. Most don't have time.

Nothing against anyone here who doesn't have the time or ability to change the oil in their vehicles. I travel almost 50% of the time and work 12+ hour days for at least 75% of the year so I know about not having enough time.

But I have to ask.....What do you do while you are pumping gas? Do you not have time then to check your oil? That has been my habit for the past 17 years since I started driving. Every time you fill up...check the oil, check air pressure in tires, and clean windshield if there is enough time. If you pump gas, you have time to check those things, in my humble opinion anyway.

How on earth did this thread end up with everyone trying to denigrate OP for not changing his own oil.. ?

Does everything have to be a big dick contest ?

The dealership messed up, accept it.
He has every right to be upset about it.

All you 'shoulda changed your own oil' guys are offering nothing constructive, only trying to come off as superior.
Some of you guys are way too fast to pat yourselves on the back - guess it mostly comes with the territory of a bunch of 'truck guys'

I was always told to check the oil with the engine cold before you drive it, which is how I check mine, so should I be checking the oil with the engine warm?

Other then my snowmobile I always check engine oil with a cold engine!!!!!
