In terms of power. You need one of the following:
- 12V stepped down to 5V (don't forget your fuse)
- A factory 5V source (they exist I've read)
- Plug into a USB port or tap into it behind the scenes. If you tap, use your multimeter to ensure you're getting it after the 5v step down.

how about the video quality. I viewed the 20 minute video but if the video quality is what it looks like then I would say it is a waste of money,, but I am assuming just like every video I ever posted you really do lose a lot of quality through compression. That is why I was waiting to read what you have to say and what you really see. Can you read a license plate? That would be the test I would be interested in since it is important to me. I know for 100 bucks you didn't go broke and I really like the size and features but if you can't get a plate off the video to me wouldn't be any different than video surveillance camera's that you can't make out the face?? what is the sense?

Nice Work!
A couple questions:
1) Is that a "Mini" add-a-fuse adapter or a "Micro2" fuse adapter necessary to tap into the fuse box for 12v access?
2) Was it clear what amp draw the 12v USB adapter required in order to match the fuse size?

Here's an image in case, like me, you're confused when it comes to fuse names. The kick panel uses the low profile mini fuse. The fuse splitter is a normal mini type. the mini fuse splitter fits into the low-profile slot with no problem.

I am thinking about getting two so you can have front and rear coverage. I was *(am) still looking into a multi channel (similar to a home four channel type) to get complete front, rear and side coverage but still haven't come up with a quality unit.
I think I read that Ford will be putting side cameras on the 2015 to cover blind stops and so on but of course that is only to view and not record!

Too tall. I electric taped it on best I could. I'll go back with a dremel eventually and cut a hole for it. There's still a kick panel covering everything so it's not a huge deal.

Alright, you guys wanted uncompressed video so here we go. These are on my google drive folder, but they should be public. About 100MB per video, not too bad. Crank it up to 1080p on the player and you're seeing it the same as I do on my PC. To be extra sure you're getting full quality click the download link in the top left and play it locally.
Daytime
Nighttime (I wanted a video showing plates up close, you'll have to ignore the mundane conversation about CVS and cigs)
As you can see it's pretty good during the day and about as good as anything can be at night. It can see plates about as far as I can, so it's good enough for me. If I was ever in an accident and really needed to analyze a license plate I'm confident I could go frame by frame and work out a plate if it was that important.
If you can't be bothered to download a video here's a frame. Go directly to the URL to see it in full resolution.

I'd say not bad at all! Looking at the day, which was overcast and the quality I see here, I think it is a keeper! You get a pretty good wide angle too as you said! Small, nice features, good quality, GPS and an affordable price. I think you made a good buy!
