Default Strange noises

I've looked for about a couple hours can't seem to find an answer. Since installing a 3" leveling kit on my 2010 4x4 I've been hearing a pretty loud banging noise coming from the front end. It sounds like hitting two metal bars against each other. When I hear the noise I also get a strange stopping/grinding feeling from the steering wheel. I'm not sure how else to describe this weird problem. I think it's coming from the drivers side but really have no clue. I only hear it when I hit a pretty decent bump or pot hole or while turning on an incline/decline. I've looked and haven't found any signs of rubbing on the plastics. Took it to ford they want $75 just to look at it. Any ideas???

Sounds like something is bottoming out. Shock, coil, etc.

Sounds like you're putting to much stress on the stock suspension components there not made to handle a 3 inch lift. Might want to consider upgrading the coils, shocks.

That's what I was thinking also. Bottoming out or maybe over extending?

Maybe new upper control arms also? After putting the lift on I notice the stock ones are maybe a half inch away from the springs. Anyone know of an aftermarket longer controls arms?

Yea, I thought so. I'm no expert but I would imagine it would put a lot of stress on the suspension.

3" is frowned upon due to all the stress it puts on the front end. Parts are going to fail much earlier than they should, but I'm sure you already know this. Definitely sounds like UCA hitting the coil. Aftermarket uniball style UCA's from Chaos, Icon, Readylift, RPG, or Fabtech will help some some at least with the UCA. CV's, LCA's, and Tie Rods are still going to be hurting though.

I had read around that 3" is a lot and puts bad angles/strain on everything. Just didn't think it would be this bad. I was trying to get the biggest lift for cheapest buck. Bad idea I guess. I'll just have to save up some money for that 4" lift. Thanks guys!
