All you nOObs out there laughing about the "Young'uns" insurance rates failed to read the OP... which is typically why these forums go off the rails and end up bashing each other so here goes my 0.02 (read "free for all")... OP is RETIRED NAVY making him/her at least 38 and probably over 40... I would hazard a guess his insurance rates are much lower than most 18 year old's... but hey, I did read the OP and can say there is a noticeable difference between the two power plants but then again, ALL the 5.0 lovers I have read in the last few posts have all mentioned "sound" as one of the reasons they liked the motor. While I would never buy an engine because of sound, (sound never moved my boat or trailer full of gravel) it would appear that many would. That said, all you EB guys... "It's a noise thing, you wouldn't understand" lol. All you 5.0 folks out there, Im glad you love the audio that came with your truck. I hope is serves you well. It's hard to splain torque difference to audiophiles but there is a difference. You EB folks... you don't get the inherent love of the engine orchestra so take your beautifully quiet truck and listen to the music that came with your sound system (that one thing on the truck that was actually designed to have sound) But if you must feel the sound love that 5.0 owners have for their trucks, then by all means get a recording of it, burn it to disc and then play it on your sound system while driving... It might help you understand why to buy a truck for the "sound" of it...lollol

To both owners, I could say that between the 8-10 different iterations of the Powerstroke which all had the same name...lol HP and torque are vastly different and were in these iterations of the stroke. If you recall, the first powerstroke had 215hp and 385 Torque (according to the 1995 Powerstroke valve cover)and the customers went insane... the torque was crazy and nobody could believe the Hp was so low...and because of diesel efficiency, they got much better mileage than their V8 429/460 counterparts. Todays strokes (18 years later have significantly more torque and HP...) are smaller than the originals by over a half liter displacement and have much more HP and torque (400HP and 800ftlbs). I guess, when they improve technology enough to make real gains, I will buy the EB 5.0 and rejoice because like many of you folks out there, I too love the sound but as a practical man, I prefer function over audio but I do love me some audio too. Until then, I have to have my quiet little EB 3.5, love the 3.15 gear mileage which you cant have on the 5.0 (for torque reasons..lol), and tow my camper or boat depending on if it's a good fishing day, or a good camping day.

So, if you have a EB and like it... Awesome! If you have a 5.0 and like it...Awesome! If you have either and wish you had the other, sorry about your bad decision and I really hope you make amends before the next EB/5.0 bashing thread... Either way, they are both trucks, both useful and since the guy makin the payments has to live with it, wouldn't it be nice if nobody bashed them while they have to stroke a check for several hundred dollars a month just to make themselves feel better about the check they have to also write?

These bashing threads remind me of arguing over opinions.. It's like this... (OOOOHHH NOOOO you idiot, you should have married the ginger midget instead of the bald asian lady you fool...!!!)

My wasn't that fun...
Cheers

Exactly. There is a difference between the two and the OP was just explaining the difference that he felt. He was not bashing in any way. I may have used the wrong words trying to explain it to others what the different is, but my intention was not bashing. There is a difference between the two just as their is a difference between a gaser and a diesel in normal driving.

Also, as I have said before, there have been multiple threads where a previous 5.0L owner trades it in for a 6.2L, and pretty much says the same thing that the OP did on the difference between the two. I don't see anyone in those threads getting all riled up and flaming the OP of those threads. Why is it done here? Is it because it is an EB owner and not the 6.2L?

When I am tired of a forum argument/debate that I do not want to engage in anymore then I just unsubscribe and move along to the next thread. It might help for you too Hardcore, if you are that tired of it to make you puke. It's at least worth a try. We don't want you puking your guts out.

48 to be accurate

very low rates,

again i wasnt bashing the 5.0
just it mentioning it felt so different, i was surprised at the weight difference, in the two body styles, his really needs some weight out back
for stability on our country roads.

just like the man said about the powerstrokes,
i had a 7.3 idi non turbo
then a 7.3 full on turbo
and a 6.0 psd
they were like night and day different
but i liked them all

nothing beats tq to make you go awwhhhh
