My truck doesn't look too bad given how hard she hit me. Still waiting for body shop estimate but looks like a new bumper, new front quarter panel, and other miscellaneous stuff. My truck was not drivable because the bumper was pushed into my wheel. Her little Ford Focus is accordianed and has got to be totaled! My biggest worry is that she hit me hard enough to damage the front axle or bend the frame. My airbag did not go off but hers did...again, her car was a mess!

I'm also worried about the truck being 100% after the fix and towing my travel trailer. We'll see what the body shop has to say...

Anyway, my rental is a 2016 F150 bone-stock XLT but does have the 3.5L Ecoboost. I can't believe how much quicker the new truck feels compared with mine! Any engine changes since 2013 or wondering if the differences are just in the differences in the truck models (mine is a heavier truck, more options, long bed, etc.).

Overall, I'm just sick about this. Just glad no one was hurt. Pics posted...

Found out the other driver is fine...glad to hear that. I'm fine too, just sore and have a pulled muscle in my back. I got the quote back for the fix: ~$5 k in repairs (mostly all the surface stuff and the mounting stuff behind, seatbelt reset, also tire/alignment, etc.). All-in-all, not too bad and I feel pretty good about the truck being 100% after this whole ordeal. It'll probably be a good couple of weeks till I get my truck back...

That said, I was just at a dealer in late September looking at 2017 Superduty's and had my truck appraised to start the upgrade process. I am/was considering trading my F150 in for something that could handle my travel trailer a bit more comfortably. Not sure what this accident will do to my trade-in value but I know it won't be good. Does anyone have any experience with this or can offer advice?

The rental is ok after almost one week in... What I thought was a 3.5 L Ecoboost is actually the 2.7 L. Still really surprised at the amount of 'giddy-up' it has. As mentioned, the truck has almost no features and I really miss a few of the things I'm used to for my hour commute to and from work (heated seats, satellite radio, etc.)

The rental does have an autostart/stop feature which I can't decide if I like. It's either the most ingenious feature ever invented or the most annoying feature ever conceived. It took a couple of days to get used to the engine shutting off at every stop (thought something was wrong the first time it happened). A quick search on these forums and I see a lot of divided opinions.

Anyway, curious what others think or have experiences on trade value after an accident. Really bummed because I literally just started looking around to begin the process of upgrading.

Thanks!

You might want to also check out companies that go after insurance companies for the diminished value of your vehicle. Your truck took a hit on the trade in value now of your truck even if it's repaired " good as new". You can do a internet search and find these companies that charge a fee to go after insurance companies for the dimished value of your vehicle (just FYI, some states don't allow for diminished value claims). These companies charge a fee but supposedly they will give you your money back if they don't get this diminished lost value money back for you ( the money you have lost now since your truck was damaged).

If you had a recent trade-in value on paper and compared that with the new offer the dealer is offering you, I'd present it to the insurance company to see what they say. If you have the paperwork to back your claims, they'll be a lot more willing to deal with you on the diminish value.

I can tell you that when I was shopping I wouldn't even look at a truck with a crash history. Probably lots like me. My 18yo, on the other hand, is very happy with his beat up 1999 car. We did a little bodywork, and it's almost presentable.

I am exactly the same way. No chance I'd look at anything with a crash history (that's just me, personally). I'm hoping, since there was no major damage, that my trade value doesn't take too bad of a hit. I'm seriously considering trading it in on a 2016 Superduty (some great deals right now). Would love a 2017 but don't think I can afford one.

No accident, I called Allstate and asked up front. I actually couldn't believe it, I thought ford would insist, no chance. I called my service dealer body shop and there remark was, we put on whatever the insurance provider wants, most people can't tell. I have a call into Allstate to see if I can buy OEM parts coverage. Like most though, if hit to hard, I might just trade or sell truck, regardless of fault.

"At fault" and "accident" are opposites.

Ahhhh ok. Here in CA, if you are not at fault, you can get new OE parts. If you are at fault, that is another story

Oh and god help you if they are uninsured.

Default UPDATE: I have my truck back...for now.

UPDATE:

I've had my truck back for a week. I originally refused it from the body shop because there were a couple of things I wasn't happy with. First was part of the replaced upper bumper trim that wasn't painted (upper bumper trim has a spacer that sticks down between that and the bumper that needed to be painted black); next, the drivers side tow hook was twisted (can't believe that was missed); and, finally, I needed them to order the front license plate bracket. All this was fixed immediately and, as I said, I've now had my truck for a week. Here's what I've noticed that still needs attention:

-The front drivers handle is very loose and doesn't 'snap' back in place when you pull the door open.

-There is a very noticeable pulse/surge in the gas pedal and steering wheel that is most evident at highway speeds (55-65 mph). Hopefully just a tire balancing or alignment issue easily corrected...even though both of those have already been done in the initial work.

-the emergency brake is sticking and even though it seems to completely release, the brake light remains on and then chimes for a full minute or two before going silent. This is intermittent, irriatating, and very concerning to me.

-my cruise control would not work since the brake light was on. It would turn on, but I could not set speed.

-driving home with the brake light on (after being 100% certain that the brake was NOT engaged), an empty amber box popped up on my heads up display. It looks like the outline of a warning box (like low fuel warning or something) but there is no content. Playing around, this box pops up only in the trip meter screen when I press the 'ok' button...is this normal? Holding the ok button still resets the trip info whether the box is on the screen or not. Pressing the ok button a second time removes the box. Any thoughts?

Attached is a pic my wife took of us driving along last night showing the brake light and the weird empty dialog box.

Needless to say, I will be calling the body shop tomorrow. Almost everyone to a person I've talked to said that things like this will keep popping up. Overall, I'm not very happy right now.
