The last time I looked, they made 6% gross and kept about half. The actual cost is probably 60% which would include labor, plants, materials....Another 35 percent goes to sales, marketing, administration, leaves about 10% for debt, taxes. If you want the exact number, look up their annual report. I would guess the F150 is more profitable than a fiesta for example, maybe 50% costs and not the average of 60%.

My guess....15k of the 30k.

The cost to make:price sold ratio would be pretty minimal for an XLT truck, but the Platinums and Lariats would make the most money. Why? It's not much more to build a Platinum than an XLT, but they bump the MSRP 10's of thousands of $$.

I think I've read that the light duty trucks are the most profitable vehicle line for Ford

A buddy of mine and I were talking about how much prices of vehicles (trucks in particular) have gone up. Then we were wondering how much the vehicles cost vs how much they charge for them.

When you think of all the parts its takes to put together a vehicle it is mind blowing. I know Fords cost for a part is greatly reduced but just think about all the components, metals, parts that make up a truck. We complain about cost of trucks going up but what hasnt gone up in the past decade or so. Food,Fuel,Clothing,Taxes,Appliances, and so on, about the only thing that has gone down is Home prices. If you assessing a price to each part to a truck I bet it adds up pretty quickly, plus add in labor, insurances and utilities.
