Default Coolant leak at firewall

Hey guys,

Brand new member. I usually cruise the powerstroke forums. Anyway, my 16 year old and I are chasing a coolant leak on his 2009 with a 4.6. The coolant is coming out of a black fitting about a foot under where the heater hoses go into the firewall. It doesn't really look like a hose would go on there. Is this a drain for a heater core failure or something else?

Picture should be rotated 90 degrees clockwise.
