Well, I for one am hoping the Ecoboost is indeed reliable. Just picked mine up tonight! I was leaning toward the 5.0 but after researching have seen many threads on issues with those as well. Like many others have said, you probably just need to test drive them and pick your poison.

U traded new truck for old, why come? I had a 13 so if I end up with 14 I would hope it's as or more powerful?

Well it's like this you see, . .. umm lets start with the name, ECOboost, that tells me umm, hmm maybe someone else can better explain. Ok ok lets just say it gets better fuel economy according to the ECO part of the name, awesome!!! Less carbon foot print etc, etal, yada yada hug a tree.

Woah what happens when you force air into an internal combustion engine? More power as well, pretty good deal so far, oh crap just remembered our engines don't run on air so we must mix something with it to make power, ... hmmmm.

MORE FUEL!! That was easy to figure out but ahh hell, my fuel gauge don't work now, it drops faster than it should, must be something wrong with it....... bebop to the dealer to be told marketing are liars or their best excuse otherwise......

Not so ECO now but hey marketing don't lie right?

I'll just leave this here.

I drove an EB when I first started looking for a truck and it pretty much wasted me for anything else. All the V8s I tried - Toyota, Dodge, Nissan- all seemed agricultural in comparison. The Ford 5.0 V8 was better but i found you had to rev it a lot more to keep the truck moving.. Not bad but the EB was just that much smoother and easier to keep moving without having to rev the nuts off it. That torque curve really works

Wow! You only got 23.9 miles on over a 1/4 tank of gas. That is magic.

Hands down go with the 5.0.
I am really looking forward to getting the 5.0 in the 2015.
My 2011 5.0 has been trouble free with 60,000 miles and the sound of that engine winding up is sweet.

The Ecoboost is fine.

Buy the Ecoboost if you need the power for towing.

Buy the 5.0 if you need less power.

Check the other 5million threads, that ask the same questions and get the same members, eating and chewing at each other.

Go drive every single one of them, Once you find the one YOU like. Drive the wheels off it. Live happily ever after.

Bottom line is your engine be it EcoBoost, 5.0, 6.2, whatever will treat you how you treat it. Drive it like a racecar and be in the pits all the time. Don't change the oil, don't complain when it blows up.
