I gave up a low mileage 5.4L for the EB very early this year. Haven't regretted it for even a single moment in just over 13k miles. Like others have said, it's an engine and like anything mechanical there will be a problem somewhere in the population. We hear more of the bad than the good, and I'm sure the good far outweighs the bad.

You are making a mistake and I will tell you why.
You drive home from work and after years of your wife listening to you complain about the drive, she notices that grin on your face. She thinks you are cheating, leaves you and takes the truck.
You are driving home from work and notice how much easier it is to get out into traffic. Soon you discover how easy it is to get ahead of traffic. Soon after that you see the lights behind you. A few months later you cannot get insurance and have to sell the truck.
You are telling your friends about your truck and they decide to have you prove your claims and jump in for a ride. Soon you are the one doing all the driving as no one in the group wants to ride in a chebby or a Ram. Then one day you are forced to really get on it to avoid an accident and by the time you get to a safe place on the road you smell something. Due to the shock of the massive amount of tq from such a low RPM, your chebby and Ram friends have emptied their bowels on your heated and cooled seats and ruined your truck.
See, the only safe thing to do is to buy a Nissan.

as long as the truck dont have any problems you should be good to go.
I, for one, dont trust the 6 banger turbo. tried, tested, and proven 5.0.
my $.02 of course. anything in life is a gamble, IMO, i'll play the odds and keep my V8.

EB is a sweet engine. Had mine since Feb 2013, not a hint of an issue.
There were some hiccups when it was launched but Ford has resolved these.
Go for it.

Before I bought I said no way will I buy a truck with a 6 banger. I spent a lot of time researching makes, models, engines, bedsize (to fit in my garage), and what options do I want. Well, you can see what I came up with, and don't regret any of it and used it all. 13,000 plus miles on it now. Just got back from 5 weeks in Indiana where it rained for the first two weeks I was there. Gruesome stories about Eco Boost intercoolers and moisture. I think I had an upgraded intercooler in my 2013, because I had no troubles, lots of guys here did though and I would not have been happy either. This engine will haul *** when you want it too. Thing is, I still had to talk myself into buying it, 6 banger and all. Glad I did.

Well, since my 2013 17K mile 5.0L motor is being pulled out and torn town as I type, I cant jump on the excitement band wagon for it.
I did however last night do a Nada & KBB value of my 5.0L... it appears an Ecoboost engine adds about a grand to 2013 re-sale value.

has good power, much better overall feel, nothing worse than the 5.0 especially now a days as time goes on the problems become nearly solved. I have one and would get another if mine is hit by a meteor. If you want more power, tuning it is a massive upgrade over the 5.0. If you have any concerns at all, yo can always get the extended warranty.

i had a 2011 ecoboost and drove it for about 40,000 miles with no issues. Sold it for a 13' and have yet to have any problems with this truck as well. Obviously there is going to be some variance in the half million ecoboosts that they have sold and some wont perform as well as others but in my experience they have been nothing but good to me, especially coming from a 5.4 engine.
