Default convince me the Ecoboost is a good choice

I may have asked this before but I need some more convincing that the Ecoboost is as trouble free as the 5.0. My dealer has 2 trucks that are equipped just the way I want them and they have the Ecoboost. Most of the V-8's on his lot are not equipped as well as the Ecoboost trucks. Sorry to sound like a broken record but I want to make the right choice and not worry about timing chains, condensation problems etc. Has Ford worked out the problems with the Eco?
thanks

I've had 2 of them. 2011 Platinum and now a 2013 Limited both EB. Not a single issue with either of them.

A couple of points:

1. There is nothing wrong with an Ecoboost.
2. There is nothing wrong with a 5.0.
3. There will always be a percentage of any engine type that has issue, regardless of make
4. I wouldn't worry about any engine in the Ford line up
5. I think you'll be happy with either engine
6. You have been a member of this forum for five years and have 45 posts. Slow down! Maybe you should step away from the computer and get out more! (just kidding! LOL!)

It's fast. It's smooth. it's quiet. You have a nice long warranty if anything goes wrong. Go for it! The Ecoboost is the best half ton motor on the market right now.

I had an Eco in 2011 and long term it was less than stellar within 35k miles, but while my current truck was in for collision repair, I rented a 2013 Eco with over 40k miles. It was as smooth and quiet as it was when new and when I talked to the fleet manager at a local enterprise, he said they've never had a major problem with their fleet of Ecoboosts. Something to think about.

Have had my 13 FX4 w/ecoboost for 1.5 years. Not a single issue with the engine. There will always be people that complain about the eco or the 5.0 for that matter. The people with issues will always bark louder and make themselves heard.

I will not hesitate to purchase another ecoboost on my next F-150.....

has good power, much better overall feel, nothing worse than the 5.0 especially now a days as time goes on the problems become nearly solved. I have one and would get another if mine is hit by a meteor. If you want more power, tuning it is a massive upgrade over the 5.0. If you have any concerns at all, yo can always get the extended warranty.

I own an eb but am driving a 5.0 up here in Denali AK right now. Drove it from Anchorage. The turbos in the eb make response time slightly different. That and the v8 rumble are about all I noticed. I would buy what ever the dealer made me a better deal on. Good luck.

I love my ecoboost.

I like the fact that I have "diesel like" performance without the added cost of diesel maintenance and fuel.

I had an eco pull up beside me yesterday at a light. He tried to race, which I wasn't in to for various reasons..He had an aftermarket exhaust and it sounded like a weed whacker and sewing machine had sex and that exhaust was the result. Just saying. Fame suit ON.

I will probably never buy an eco. I just have heard way too many stories about it being unreliable. I hunt a lot so I need a very reliable engine, therefore the 5.0.
