This will be a write up on what i did to change the backglass from a stationary to power slider. This will not include the step by step guide on how to actually change the part (search).
1. We removed the headliner, front A pillars, and other trim to access the factory harness. Changing the backglass does not require this step! Verify that your truck has the harness behind the seat before you begin.
2. Ordered the switch and wire harness. The VIN will not help you here. You will need to know what plant your truck was built at, whether the outside mirrors are electrochromic, etc.
3. Zip tied the new harness to the old harness. We did this because the factory harness is glued to the headliner and i didn't want to risk damaging it.

4. We added two 49x 18 strips of Fat Mat on the roof.
5. Test everything to make sure it works. Reassemble! The cover to the switch only comes with a new console. Since the console is $140+, we are going to trim the blank piece and make it look good.

This is a great write up. Only question I have is, why you had to order the harness. I was under the impression that it was already there. I have everything needed to do the install (except the time).

I did this swap a few months after I got the truck. I have a sunroof so all I had to do was buy the new controls and trim piece for the upper console. Everything was PNP.
