This is what happens when you don't protect the underside of the truck. They now put calcium chloride on the roads here and its brutal. Much worse than salt.

This was my previous truck after just one winter. I also washed the underside almost every weekend at the car wash.

I also have a 2010 F-150 and had it undercoated at a
LINE-X dealer. At almost 64 years old I figured this will
be my last new truck so I might as well *try* and prolong
its life (also here in NW Ohio) some.

I noticed most Ford trucks start to rust at the bottom of
the doors and above the rear wheels. It's easy to keep the
dirt clear from above the rear wheels but can't do much
about the doors except keep the bottoms clean.

I believe I had around $350 in the job. I didn't have the bed
coated (same LINE-X name brand but different black mix)
because I put a rubber mat down and installed a cap.

Now if I only could get better mileage... lol

Are you planning on mounting the camera on the back of your truck or the back of your trailer? I am thinking that when you are towing, all you are going to see is the front of your trailer if its mounted near your truck's license plate like most of them are......

The camera was primarily going to be used to hitch up the truck to the trailer. After that I wouldn't have any need for it so the % of time I would be using this feature would be only in the summer and when we go camping. So after getting estimates from my local "AutoSound" place on getting a permanent unit installed it was around $530 which included camera, new rear view mirror with lcd back up within it plus labor.

I opted for a cheaper version just like the swift hitch but cheaper at camping world. All this is a wireless camera that attatches to talgate with magnets and a wireless receiver. Once I get the trailer hitched up, I can pull the camera off and put everything in the interior storage area for the next time I hitch up.

So I'm settling on getting what I need by a hitch camera plus considering the undercoating.

I think Ziebert is very competitve with other rust proof companiens but the yearly maintenance fee to keep the life time warranty isn't required for other companies that install the product. They spray it and forget it. Your all set unless you damage the undercarriage or run over something that strips the roof proof off which would require a touch up. Just my thoughts but everyone is free to do what they want and may know someone that sprays the stuff at a cheaper price. I guess call around and get some estimates and ask about the warranty and how long it is and what's required on your part.

Frankly, I had not thought about the hooking up the hitch part of a back up camera. If you are alone, that is probably something that might come in handy.
My wife does a pretty decent job of directing and backing me up under the hitch, and the centering part is easy from the cab. For $350 I'd rather pay her a $1 to do this 350 times.....but if you are alone, I can see this working for you.

That reminds me -- I like the idea of a wireless camera that could be slapped on the back of the trailer. Not just help when backing up, but to see how close I am when changing lanes.

If your interested in a portable wireless camera that allows you to move the camera where ever you want here are two options I looked at. I went with the campingworld one becasue I'm a member.

I live in northern Ontario where they put salt on everything!! Ive always had my vehicles undercoated. Ive had my 2009 F150 undercoated with Krown Rust Protection although Im not sure if its available in Ohio. Great stuff and its not a solid rustproofing. It oozed into crevices and cracks and stops rust and corrosion. Also stops squeaks since it lubricates at the same time. The cost is about 130$ per application so affordable.
