Hey All -- So i've searched the forums and tried rebalancing/rotating my tires unfortunately I still have a bad vibration over 65mph.

Because i'm over 40k miles.. I won't be able to take it to ford.

According to other folks on here and other forums.. the drive shaft was out of phase. I don't entirely know what that means other than "it's not spinning properly"

I'd like to know if anyone else with this same issue has taken their drive line to a driveline specialist and had them actually rebalance it and had the problem go away ?

your rotors could be warped. does your pedal pulse at all when braking?

When did the vibration start? Is the vibration consistent every time over 65 mph? Any specific symptom characteristic details you can share? Does the steering wheel shake? Does it FEEL like its coming from any particular area of the truck? Any way to video the symptom, like with a glass of water in the console possibly?

Your truck is configured with the 6.5' bed, which are extremely susceptible to any vibration induced from a number of different sources.

A 35" x 12.5' tire can be balanced, but it doesn't take much to throw off the entire shooting match, this is especially so with heavy, large diameter tires. If tires end up being suspect, a road force balance might be in your future.

I actually have this same issue, and I'm 2 months out of warranty. My tire guy said that this Ford's are bad at that if the tire tread gets a little off. He said once I get new tires, it will stop. Not sure what to believe though.

Basically it's like this.. Around town.. under 50mph no problems whatsoever. Now if I get on the freeway and get up to speeds of 65mph + I have a small shake in the steering wheel..the passenger seat starts to vibrate/shake -alot- and then if you're sitting on the back on the right side of the bench you can actually feel the vibrations/shaking

If i had to pick an area where it seems to shake the most I'd say the middle to right side but only when you're going at speeds of 65+.. under that..the shake is there but not as noticeable.

I've had the tires balanced twice because that's of course what everyone thinks...unfortunately it didn't resolve the issue.

I'll try to capture the issue on video somehow

OK... I have the exact issue. I have had my tires rotated and balanced twice with no results... still shaking. However, my tire guy told me that it's the Scorpion tires that Ford used. He said once the tread gets low, it will shake at high speeds. I have a 2012 Ford Platinum, and I just hit 38K miles. I still have tread on them and could have went another 10-20K miles, but I went ahead and bought new tires. Now, I was still skeptical but I jump on the highway with the new tires, and it was smooth as silk!


So, since your around 40K miles, if you still have those scorpion tires on it... all you need to do is buy new tires.

hey bud.. I have completely different tires (35" toyo MT's) so definitely something else going on. Going to give the dealership in my area a call on Monday and schedule a service appointment. I'll keep this thread updated as I go along.

Your tires are bad! Get new ones...

Had the same issue with new cooper discoverer at3s, one way out of round ( was on the front d.s. axle). Caused the same issues, but over 45 mph.
