It's already been fixed. Stick a resistor in there and enjoy your ac!

Here are my results with the resistor. FYI, this is a very cursory report. The resistor I used tested at 850k ohms, .25w. My truck is a 2014 v8, manual climate control. I'm assuming factory charge, but based on gauge readings it might have some other issues. But anyway, here they are.

With resistor after 15 minutes:

86F - Idle - 42.2F vent
86F - 1500 RPM - 41.6F vent

Shutoff, resistor pulled, restart for 15 min:

86F - Idle - 44.6 vent
86F - 1500 RPM - 43.1 vent

How fast are you running the fan during your test?

Those look consistent with mine considering the fan speed.

Not so much an understanding, more like an acknowledgement that only Ford engineering really understands what they created.

Count me as one frustrated rolling sauna owner. I'll post what I've been trying soon. Still just observing.

Anyone else notice after the resistor mod that when you sit at a light it's not as cool like 5F to 8F difference? If not I might have something else going on.

Which kills the point of this mod for me since I'm always stuck in traffic.

No.

My temps stay fairly consistent. My auxiliary fan also comes on when sitting still, this helps keep the temps down. You need air flowing though the condenser to keep things as cool as possible.

Ex Ford master tech here and your grasp of the basic is spot on.

I've pretty much resigned my self to either Ford rewriting the strategy or a simple switch to keep the compressor engaged. I proved it worked using IDS to toggle the comp clutch on/off and adding an extra 14-18oz of Freon.

I don't see people spending $2,200 + $700/yr for IDS, so a switch it must be.
