You mean a 3rd USB? In addition to the 2nd one that is already under the dash? Well, it'd be easier to get to I guess, but why not get a USB hub instead?

It is 12V on the wiring harness behind the coin holder. See previous post

Your main concern is amperage not voltage. Does the wiring have the amp capacity needed for what you want to use? Voltmeters draw very little amperage.

Nope, there is enough power to light up the radar detector, but not enough amperage to complete the self test. I am running the power to the fuse box today.

That is what I said. It is 12V but may not have the capacity to run the item you are using. Voltmeters....yes.

I bought a dual 110 converter for plugging into my XLT's rear 12V power point.

Built to set in the consoles cup holder, has dual 110, USB, and retains the 12V power point.

It has worked on everything I've needed to charge up while in the truck including my laptop, cell phone, Segway, Silver Surfer vaporizer, air compressor and everything so far.

Amazon sells them, and I'm real satisfied. Only costs $25us.

Ok Radar detector and mute switch is mounted and working great. Thanks to the forum for guiding me. Tapped into fuse 41 for the power and utilized the 4x4 switch for the ground.

On a 2010 I found Fuse 41 for use when the car is turned on. Fuse 42 is a spare, but hot all the time. Page 321 of your owners manual will help too

Thanks for the picture! I plan on installing the Escort SmartCord direct wire for my radar this weekend and have gone crazy looking for places to put the control module... Any advice before I tear this coin holder to pieces?

Also, how are you liking it? Do you regret not putting it in another place?

I've been wanting to add an iPhone mount/holder over that STUPID coin holder and thought of adding the radar mute to the right of the steering column (in the horizontal 'slits' in the gray part of the dash. ..anyone know what that is??? At first I thought it was the mic for SYNC, but I heard the mic is integrated in the rear-view mirror.
