Default Is there an alternate Location for Power mirror "Fold" Relay

I have an 2011 Lariat supercrew. I ordered it in Oct. of 2010. I ordered it with the Lariat Plus package and the Max Tow package. So that gave me the Tow mirrors instead of the regular Power Fold mirrors. A few years ago I bought a set of 2013 Powerscope Tow mirrors. I just now got around to putting them on the truck. I decided to put Puddle Lamps in the Powerscope because I like the illumination. That went well. I then put the mirrors on the truck and installed the correct switch that controls the Power Fold function. I haven't done the wiring for the Power Extend or Marker Light. I'm having a problem with the Power Fold not working on the mirrors. The rest of the mirror functions work fine (Power adjust, signal, memory, etc.). In my research I found out about a Relay that's suppose to control the Power Fold function.
Last weekend I decided to get behind the rear seat to see if there was a relay for the folding mirrors back there. Or at the very least the harness and plug for the relay. Once I got the seat back down and got the cover pulled away I took a look for a harness or a plug for a relay. All that was there was the motor and cables for the sliding rear window, and the wires going to it. Then wires and a grey plug for the heated rear window. That's it. No other wires or harness. So now I'm stumped. The thing I keep going back to, is when I ordered the truck with the Max Tow package, it gave me the Tow mirrors instead of the Power fold mirrors that came with the Lariat Plus package. Maybe that was cause to eliminate the harness? I went to the Ford ETIS site and put in my VIN number to see what it said. This is some of what I saw:
Lariat/Luxury version - LT. TRK.
(-) Version packages.
with Power Equipment group.
Memory package III.
Less Luxury package.
Drivers Power/Htd/Pud/Mn/T. Tow mirror.
Pass Power/Htd/Pud/Mn/T. Tow mirror.
with Signal Mirror system.
Feature content Group 1.
Adjustable Accl./Brake foot pedals.
So I'm still wondering because the Manual Fold Tow mirrors were installed in lue of the regular Power Fold Mirrors, cancelled out the harness for the Power Fold Relay? Has anyone heard of something like this? I haven't had any luck in my research.....

Don't think so. Not sure this would apply to you, but here's 2013.

Thanks.. At first, I didn't think the diagram was gonna be that much help because I didn't see a relay or a harness directly behind the seat. Key words being "Directly Behind". But I've been looking nearly every day on line trying to find information for a solution. This is what I've come up with. "Some" information claims, that on my model of truck, that the DSM (Driver Seat Module) under the drivers seat controls the Power Fold function, and that there is not a Relay located behind the seat. If that is the case, I would need to go to the dealer for a programming. Other Information says, There is a Power Fold Relay. But it is not located Directly Behind the rear seat back. Rather, it is located behind the drivers side trim panel at the rear of the Cab, and it is located down near the floor. I found a video showing it's location. And the diagram that you posted Spiky now makes more sense. So, when I get a chance I'm gonna drop the seat back once again and remove the trim panel to see what I shall see. Hopefully there will be a harness with no Relay. Thanks again for the Diagram!

I know this is old, but I'm going through the same thing and thought I would chime in for future users. Mine is a 2009 FX4 without power folding as well...but I believe they are similar. The fold function is in the drivers seat module and there is no relay for the power fold in my model/year...and I suspect the same for 2011. I think the 2013 models was where that came in to play. In my case, the wiring is there in the seat harness and in the door harnesses...but not in the body harness. Strange. But I have simply run a harness from the seat harness to each door...replicating the factory harness. If you have the door connector, you can pin the new harness into the cab side connector in the proper location and you will have it done as the wiring is there in the door harnesses. However, I have yet to test this as my mirrors aren't here yet...I'm just getting the wiring prepared.

My question is this...will my seat module be able to operate the power fold properly? Or will I need to program it (I have Forscan) or buy a different module? I have Memory Package III as well...but I don't know what the difference is between that and Memory Package IV, etc. The package you have makes a difference on what module you need. If anyone can chime in on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

If I recall correctly, if you are adding power fold mirrors to a vic that did not come from the factory with them, then you need to install a brand new seat module. It's been on my to-do list for a year now after doing all the research on what's needed and I'm about to start this project on my newly acquired 2013 with brand new OEM PowerScopes that I've collected over the year.

When I get home, I'll post the links to where the seat module replacement information was provided, if someone doesn't provide it sooner.

Augster...thank you very much! Please let me know about the new seat module requirement. I suspect that is the case as I'll bet it's the one with Memory Package IV...or something like that. Your help will be greatly appreciated!!

Okay, here is the original "Folding Mirrors on f-150" thread that initiated the DIY topic on adding Power-Fold to non-PF F150's, which includes detailed factory pin-out diagrams. The OP did a manual wiring job which did not connect to the seat module and therefore the fold operations were all manual and the switch had to be held activated the entire time to fold open/close; releasing before the operation was complete would stop the mirror in-place. This is unlike the OEM function which utilized the seat module: tap on the switch to open or close and the module will take over until the operation is complete. Also, if the vic is driven while the mirrors are closed, they will automatically open above 10MPH. This is exactly how my 2009 Platinum with factory PF operated.

Post #122 by Pimp-boy begins to discuss the requirement of a new Driver Seat Module in order to enable OEM operation, but his follow-up post #135 was the missing piece of the puzzle: plug-in a brand new (unused) DSM and with a PF Switch and PF Mirrors, all should be working without any programming.

So at a minimum, you would need:

Power-Folding Mirrors
Power-Folding Mirror Switch
Driver Seat Module (unprogrammed new)
Any additional wiring as needed depending on options on target vic

Let me catch everyone up on this. I was able to get my mirrors to have full factory integration. The final piece of the puzzle was with the Driver's Seat Module as Augster suggested. However, it must be from a 2009/2010. Later will not work! What I did was go to AutoTrader and find me a 2010 that had the power folding mirrors from the factory. I took the VIN from that add and plugged it into a Ford parts site and grabbed the part number for that vehicle's DSM. Yep...it's the spendy one. I also used that VIN to go to Motorcraft Service and pull the As Built file...just in case I screwed something up and needed to program it correctly. I simply plugged it in and it worked just fine. If you use Forscan or similar, you will find a couple codes that deal with an electric tilt steering column (which mine doesn't have) but that doesn't hurt a thing, so I just left it. One of these days I'll figure out what needs to be changed to clear that with Forscan...but for now, it works perfectly! Thanks to Augster for pointing me in the right direction.
