Default Clunk in shift from 2nd to 1st for 2010 4x4

I had the clunk since day one. About a year into it I got it "fixed" and it sort of went away. My question is, does that hard downshift really hurt anything? I have a $100 deductible on the warranty and you know how sometimes things come back worse than they were. Should I just live with the clunk as I have been?

If it goes into gear quickly and isn't mushy between shifts, that doesn't concern me. It's long delays between gears, and sloppy shifts that are typical signs slipping and real problems.

I have that on mine as well. Like others, doesn't do it every time. Just depends on the stopping situation. I thought it was the transmission at first, and sometimes it may be, but most of the time I think it is the slip yoke bump I feel. I took it to a transmission shop who rode with me and he said he could grease it but it would probably come back in a few months. So for now I haven't done any thing with it.

Yeah, that's kinda the way I'm leaning. It doesn't happen all the time, and all the other shifts are good. I notice the bump mostly if I'm braking harder than normal, then kind of let up at the last minute. Doesn't sound like it's worth worrying about though.

Thanks

I also have this problem. I was looking into a tuner w/ custom tunes to see if that would help but still unsure. I currently have a hypertech tuner that I recently changed the shift firmness +25 and it has been downshifting earlier so it hasn't done it yet but it has only been a couple of days. I also had the truck flashed at the dealer a couple years ago and it fixed it for a bit. I have also tried the battery disconnect but it still does it. Happens when coming to a stop slowly. If I am harder on the brake it doesn't do it very often.

I noticed when leaving for work in the morning and I'm creeping through the subdivision (Accelerating slowly) my 2009 F150 will shift kinda hard? It doesn't clunk or anything. It just seems a little rough I guess... However If I'm taking off normally It seems normal.

I'm not sure if that is what you're referring to? My truck has done that since I bought it.

I pulled the driveline out and put in a super ball inside of the yolk because the bump comes from shifting and the driveline bumps up against the back of the transmission! The superball gives it a cushion…. Never heard the bump again!!!
