So I've been doing a lot of reading on these threads and it seems to me that the general concensus is that EVERYONE hates chrome. I know it is a pain in the to keep clean. A lot of F150's come with chrome packages and a lot of you are really keeping PlastiDip in business. I've thought about dipping my rims in black just to see what it looks like but with a glossy dip. As for the other stuff on my truck (bumpers, bullbar, side steps, side mirrors etc) I want to keep them chrome.

I guess what I'm getting at is what is everyones problem with chrome? Does PlastiDip add horsepower or something?

I like chrome (though I still firmly believe that most F-150's and American vehicles have far too much of it), however I like body colour much better. Different tastes really. However, I do agree with you that PD is pretty tasteless when people spray it on every piece of chrome on the truck.

I partly blacked out my truck but it is not completely murdered.


Trucks like the Limited have just the right amount of chrome. Any more is too much IMO...Especially when people get carried away with that stick-on crap.

Painted parts are king. I personally do not like chrome at all. Just a preference i guess. Im not a fan of plasti dip either.

Nothing wrong with chrome in moderation as in anything. As for Plasti dip it's a cheap fix, it looks good from a far but far from good. Your truck looks good by the way.

Im "old" school. I will always love chrome. But my stx didnt come with much and plastidip was much cheaper to add. Some trucks look obnoxious with it and some look great. Thats my opinion.

Isnt it funny how it used to be the opposite. It was all about how much chrome you could put on a vehicle. Now you have to pay extra for PTM parts. I still like chrome but there is a fine line between tasteful and gaudy. I also am no longer a fan of black everything. It seems more common than a stock truck these days.

OP your truck looks awesome. I dont think I have seen a truck of our gen pull off a bull bar as well as yours. Just not so much of a fan of the chrome skull caps

I love chrome! Everyone has their tastes on what looks good. I for one don't care for the blacked out look, especially wheels. Looks ghetto to me. But again, that's my opinion.
