Wow....glad you are OK and that the Sync dialed 911. Hard to say how bad the damage is.....either way I'd be on to another truck as this one most likely won't be the same. Sorry it had to happen to you on Christmas.

I'm glad to hear you and your family are alright.
Your damage does look significant to me. I too wonder about the airbag issue, as previously stated that IS a big factor the insurance will consider.
And if you find out that this woman was talking on a cell phone or texting....press CRIMINAL charges.

well im betting it might go total, for the fact that all the f150 that i seen that had damage to the front tubural HSS, have gone total loss, im not sure if its non serviceable or what the story is, ill have to check at work some time.
And for airbags the insurance companys dont care, its all about the bottom line whats cheaper.
the front frame donest look like it has any sway in it but i bet the frame horn are bent out of shape
also if you seat airbag went off you get a new seat cover

Really sux.................but everyone is OK. Best Christmas present ever.
If only Santa could spread some pixie dust over your truck and it could heal itself. I'd be hoping a couple of engine mounts broke and the frame twisted. 2011 model, here I come.
Sorry to say that if the babe that hit you was talking or texting, there would have been injuries to her, after the fact.

sorry about your truck, def not a good way to spend Christmas eve but im glad no one was hurt, the truck did its job well, they are strong. as far as being totaled its hard to say, depends alot on frame damage and air bag deployments but in general if the cost of repairs gets up around 75% of the value of the truck they will usually total it but its hard to say from just pics. it looks bad but ive seen ALOT worse damage on vehicles worth much less not get totaled and be repaired.

Retired and loving it!
I hope for your sake they total it, and if the insurance companies don't go that way at first, keep in mind that YOUR insurance company needs to go to bat for you with hers.
Keep in mind diminished value --- your truck is never going to be worth as much with a Carfax showing that much damage --- even if they fix it so nothing shows, your trade in value or sales value is significantly diminished. Insurance companies always hope you don't know about that and don't claim it for part of your compensation.....
VERY glad to hear that everyone is OK too. THAT is part of your Christmas blessing.
We were driving home on a 4 lane highway last night (with about a 10 foot grass median) and an older Chevy conversion van going the other direction spun into the median right in front of us. It was a miracle that he did not flip or come into the oncoming traffic. I stopped on the shoulder, and he was able to actually drive away.....

I'm assuming the truck is sitting at the towing company's lot right now, awaiting instructions on what to do with it? If so, either let your insurance company inspect/appraise it and take over from there, or have it delivered to the nearest FORD dealership with a collision repair shop for the estimate.
Make sure the estimate is written using 100% genuine OEM (FORD) parts, no aftermarket, and no used parts. You CAN insist on this if the wreck was someone else's fault. If it was your own fault, then you'd be bound by your own insurance co's policies pertaining to used/aftermarket parts.
From the looks of the truck, I'd bet a dollar it is totaled out. The airbags are a big expense alone, several grand worth. Next, you have body damages across the front, and down the entire side of the truck. Most likely frame damage to go along with it. The salvage value is still pretty high, so it actually benefits the insurance co to total it. This saves them from having to stand behind the extensive repair work too.
Please keep us posted. I am glad to hear the family is safe. They make more trucks every day.

Best news of all is that no one was hurt... I guess that was your Christmas present! Looks like a pretty good hit, though. The ACV on your truck is probably up there and each insurer had their own point at which they consider a vehicle a T/L. I think the lowest is around 70%, meaning that they won't consider the truck a total unless the repair estimate is 70% of the ACV (actual cash value). Don't knock yourself out looking for someone to write you a good estimate, because the insurance carrier will only accept their own appraiser's estimate for a T/L. Hopefully the adverse vehicle had insurance coverage, otherwise you'll have to go through your own policy.
Good Luck,
Fred
