ComQuest you've got a good memory.
Yeah the AVS brand is good looking and reasonably priced. The 2 sided tape is durable (3M product) and will last through any power wash, manual wash or typhoon you can throw at it. It's key that you use the 4 alcohol swabs to prep the area before attaching them.
In channel ones on newer trucks with the window sensor in them can be randomly hit and miss and one other problem I've heard over time your weather stripping starts to loose it's rigidity where the in channel visors are and the visors become sloppy and loose. Stick on ones for the win.
Here's mine:

I originally bought the in channels and they took forever to get here only to arrive broken. Back order at amazon for 2 mos so I went with the stick on. I am really happy with them and I read a lot about the in channels during the delivery and was happy I was able to swap them out and save some $.

Standard uses double sided sticky tape and attached to your paint. The low profile uses the same tape but attaches to the rubber molding instead of the paint.

I use mine so I can leave all the windows cracked while at work all day. I live in Mississippi and during the summer there is a chance of scattered rain everyday. With the visors I don't have to worry about the inside getting wet.
