changing rear end gears
I have a 09 5.4L with 3.15's currently in the truck. If I wanted to jump to 3.55 or even 3.73's what all would i need to purchase? I know I would need a new ring and pinion set...but is there anything else?

Shop, I didn't even consider it a DIY, being that if something isn't just right, will cause me aggervation later on down the road. But I would like to get the parts online to save some money...baller on a tight buget

All you need is the ring and pinion set(front & rear if 4x4) and possibly a installation kit that comes with the shims, bearings and what not. Depending on the condition of the bearings you may be able to re-use them. Also if you want your speedo to read the correct mph you will need a programmer like the sct x3. I just changed my gears my speedo was off by 10 mph at 60

Yeah I figured I would need the ECU reflashed because of the gear change. I am torn on what size to go with though. I pull a 5-6k boat a good bit, and I'm tired of my transmission changing between 5-6 on flat roads. Even with normal driving (to work and around town) it is always switching gears going up slight inclines. Understandable I did put a slightly bigger tire than what came from Ford, but even before that change, it was still bad.

I'm looking into this as well...found some 373 ford racing gears on summit for $130 so $260 total for a set..not bad but how much will labor cost? And how many hours should it take so if the shop says 6 but only takes 4 we can call BS
