A tune can cause issues.... A tune may or may not give you horse power or torque gains....: gas/diesel, boost/no boost.... A lot or not so much. All of these depend on what changes are made. If you don't know what may or may not cause issues to your drive train, ask the shop that's doing the tune. I'm wiling to bet 5star or MPT would address your concerns and explain the options to you. PCM's can fry, even if you know what you're doing... Sometimes it happens. I had a Duramax that did it a few different times for unknown reasons. It's kind of like asking 'will ramming my truck into a pole cause damage?' probably... Depending on how fast you hit it.
