Haha, try paying 15 cents/litre (thats 56 cents/gallon) more for 91 octane over 87 octane. And yet I still do it.

I have a superchip tuner only reason got a steal for it and couldn't pass it up. At first I ran the 87 performance and was great a week ago bumped it to the 91 performance to see what it had not much of a difference between them besides harder shifting in the 91 but the gas quality for sure makes a difference with them. At least in mine I could tell. But even tho it's not required I've always run 91 in my 5.0.

Yep. The 5.0 doesn't gain much power from a tune. Need to add a supercharger for real power. But a tune will help drive ability as sweat machine said.

People raving about tunes have an ecoboost.... With just a tune they can add close to 100 hp and even more torque.

You two must own Ecos huh? Cause my 5.0L gained ALOT and I'm only running 87Octane!

I have an MPT tuned 5.0 same as you do. It's gained a lot of driveability and fun factor but I doubt it's picked up much horsepower. Maybe 15-20? I have no idea. I haven't calibrated my butt dyno in a while.

With a 93 Performance MPT claims 47RWHP IIRC. I will have to look at there site to double check. **** they claim 8RWHP IIRC with just swapping from 87 to 93 on the Stock Ford Tune. There are graphs that show all this on there site. I'm no longer running the MPT it wasn't very good with MPG and at WOT it seams to just push things more than they wanted to be pushed giving me the feeling of it not being very smooth, if that makes since. Went back to running my 87 Performance Unleashed Tune, logged it once and he made changes that made it a difference truck compared to his first tune, makes just a tiny bit less power than MPT but is way way smoother. I need to find time to log it to make a few more adjustments and it will be perfect, it's damn close now!

Atleast we haven't heard any horrible stories about engines blowing up after tunes
