Hi guys, picked up the hood today from Sumas Washington local depot outlet. I'm from Canada so going to a shipping depot saved me $250.00 shipping fee.

Arrived in great condition. We test fitted the hood today and everything went well.

Next step is to pre-bake to cure the fibers in the hood.

Early thoughts are it looks uber aggressive/Baja 5000ish but I'm sure with paint and everything assembled it will mellow out considerably.

Pictures attached. More to come~! P.S the second to last picture is one of the heat extractor grills

Hmmm, I had imagined the opening where the air dumps into the intake filter to be much larger and relatively square to match the air box lid. Here are two other manufacturers openings that match the air box opening.

Thanks Dontas, I was thinking of painting the heat extractor grills Red to match the FX4 theme as mentioned previously. Thumbs up or down?

Also, guys I've asked Cervinis R&D for feedback on the opening size and why they made the decision to go with the size they did. (Under hood duct) to intake opening.

I also spoke to Cervinis tech's and asked them what the expectations should be for the fitment and finish. They commented that my expectations should be extremely high. They also commented that pre-preparation i.e guide paint, high and lows, blocking, priming, basically all the prep work required prior to painting should be less than many competitors, products on the market. They attribute this to their attention to detail and finishing and years of R&D.

I'll let you know what the body shop has to say. I've been dealing with the same body shop for 17 years and their attention to detail also is very high so let's wait for their feedback before I get too excited.

Should be ready by this Friday or Monday.

P.S if anybody has feedback on how much prep work their Cervinis Ram Air hood required I'd be very interested.

i'm not sure how much the red heat extractor grills will show up. it all depends on the color of red you use. but be careful, red can look really crappy/corny if not done right. in my opinion the red would have to be pretty understated to look good in this situation. i'm more apt to stick with black even though my truck is ruby red.

in the past I used red LED to make openings a little more flashy. that worked well on my Mustang GT but since these are facing forward I don't think that's a good idea.

has Cervinis given any indication on when this new design will be available? i'd like to get a hood ordered and into the shop for painting and fitment by the end of the month. I can wait longer but just happen to have a good window in late sept/early oct.

also... i'm fine with the opening as it is. any opening is better than no opening at all (which is what I currently have with the stock hood)

Totally agree about the understating comment. Keep in mind I'm referring to the heat extractors facing inside the cab not the ones facing forward. Not the Ram Air but the heat extractor grill or exhaust on the rear of the hood.

In terms of availability I would estimate the under hood duct will be available early October.

Default Under hood duct opening to CAI

Hello RogueGT,

I spoke with Cervinis today regarding the Under hood duct opening that's responsible for directing air into the intake and more specifically why it is not larger or relatively square to match the air box lid.

Cervinis R&D and operations department shared that the reason for the small opening is to help generate a stronger force.

This helps the intake pick up larger volumes of fresh air from the Ram Air. If the opening were larger then the logic or Cervinis logic is that the pressure would be lower and result in less volume of air being picked up or directed into the intake.

In many ways it could be compared or resembled to a garden hose and what happens when you put your thumb over the end, creating higher or stronger outward forces. Its with this reasoning they have created and designed a smaller opening for greater air intake efficiencies.

I will be road testing the hood next week, estimating Wednesday. I will also post some more pictures.

Hope you guys find this helpful.

how will you be conducting your tests? dyno? or out on the road. isn't the purpose of a ram air is so the faster you go the more air is forced into the scoop? thus it seems that only by actually going a certain speed will you experience the benefit. or to you have a wind tunnel at your disposal as well.

Hi guys, sorry for the delays I just picked up the truck last night. Sorry about the cell phones picks. I'll be attaching more pictures and sharing more thoughts after I've had a chance to road test and drive.

Early thoughts and first reaction.

I love it. Its not for everyone I'm guessing but I absolutely love the badness. It definitely jumps out at you and a instant aggressive look, front end snarls at you. I'm pretty visual but that's just off the cuff, first thought.

Challenge~

My K&N CAI is 3 inches higher than my stock Ford intake and this caused a clearance issue. When I say 3 inches taller, what I'm referring to is the outer housing and vertical high of the housing. I'm going to modify it to fit Monday and I'll provide you with some feedback on this issue so you can avoid this for anyone doing an upgrade to their CAI and trying to decide which one to purchase. I had no idea it was going to be taller when I purchased the K&N and they obviously don't point that out to you.

Fitment ~ Beside my aftermarket CAI it's great. 10/10 I was considered about the fiberglass having some waves to it. But nothing I've noticed yet.

Sounds~ I can hear my CAI more, sounds a little louder for sure.

Power~ No gains that I can discern as of yet
