I bought a uniden bearcat 980. It should arrive tomorrow. Also bought a speaker that I will mount under the hood of my truck. Me and a buddy were interested in putting a PA system in so I purchased the components. We each wanted everything hidden away from plain sight. I just was curious to see where everyone else has mounted there's to get some ideas.

Great app but doesn't work everywhere because it just picks up internet feeds. I live in a pretty big city and its police net isn't on there.

I took the rubber pad out of the tray and drilled holes through the tray for the bracket bolts and power / antenna. When (or if) I sell the truck, I remove the radio and put the rubber pad back on and no one knows.

I used 50ft of RG8X coaxial. I used the slack from it, wound around an old Powerade bottle and some electrical tape, to make an RF choke.

The cable runs against the frame rail up through the stake hole to where a Browning BR28 antenna is mounted.

EDIT: Now I feel stupid for not noticing this was in the 2009-2014 section... guess I got a little too excited

Default My radio install

I didn't like the fender mount option, it wasn't my definition of a clean install. So I got a 2 inch strip of aluminum, bent it around my towing mirror arm, drilled out a hole for the antannae stud, sprayed it with truck bed liner, & added truck bed topper weather stripping to the inside to prevent scratching up the mirror arm.
