Honestly, that's what i thought the problem was. So when they said it was a wear item, i didn't question them. Stupid on my behalf...

Bummer deal Xterra Well Ford sources out from allot of parts manufacturers/suppliers and once in awhile there will be a bad batch. Yes the primary fault lies within the manufacturer but Ford get blamed because the parts are on their vehicles. This is why you report it to Ford so they can asses the issue and see if it is recall worthy.

A recent example is the old Power Stroke Diesel. Ford truck had so many problems with the recent 6.0 and 6.4 that made Ford look bad even though Ford didnt make the engine BUT bought them from engine supplier Navistar/International. So now Ford builds diesels in house which proved to be a great move.

I know all brands have issues. i did not even think of taking it to ford to see if the warranty would cover it and I have the 100k extended one at that. I was pretty sure breaks and wear items would not be covered. and with work and that being my only transportation I needed it fixed asap. It was not expensive. the caliper came with all new bolts grease mounting bracket. $50 core charge after the core it was $80 bucks and new break pads were 68 bucks from napa

Bull. The caliper should be covered under the 3/36 warranty.

it should be covered.. the wear and tear only applies to the pads, shoes, rotors, drums etc. I saw that happen constantly on 04-08 trucks at my old job but never an 09+
