Capless fuel fill, Over fill?
I searched this but didn`t find anything .
I filled the truck tonight for the first time and when it reached the top it over flowed with out shutting off the gas pump. Some fuel splashed out onto the paint and more ran out under the truck. Has anyone else ran into this? Just wonder if its a common issue with this capless system .
I have used this same gas station before with out any problem with my other vehicles.

I always fill the truck up all the way and I usually just set the pump going and leave it until it is full. So far the pump shuts off every time when it is full. It is however very full, and one time I thought I would top it off like I did my last vehicle and I spilled a little. That was my own fault though.

i have found if i top off, it does over flow, though it comes out behind the panel, not onto the truck, now, i just let it fill until it stops, and leave it there...never had it keep pumping after full...

I fill up a truck probably 5-10 times a month(Salesman), and only once have I had that problem, and it was due to trying to max it out. Once it clicked, I triggered it for another round to get it to an even number, and it spilled out the back(where dirt/water/ect runs out).

Thanks everyone.
So it sounds like with these trucks when they are full thats all they take . Unlike my other truck that took another $10.00 after the pump shut off. I am still not sure why the pump didn`t stop but I will just have to keep an eye on it until I get familiar with it.

Your example sounds like a problem with the filling device. It should automatically turn off when it gets any backwash.
It is usually not a good idea to top off your tank especially during warm weather. Gasoline storage tanks are underground and usually at an average temp of about 50 degrees. When you put it into your tank and park your car on pavement which might be 110+ degrees (a net 60+ degree temp increase), that heat will warm the gas in your vehicle's gas tank. The warming also causes the volume of the gasoline to increase and as it expands will go up the filling neck and leak out.

They are correct. There is a system in place that "feels" the flow pressure and when the full tank starts to back up toward the nozzle, it will turn off. It also is set in place for those people who insist on filling up the neck of their fuel tank that ineveitably leads to damaged EVAP systems.
