Even if you add the additional fees to import into Canuckville (not the sales tax as you pay that regardless) it amounts about 1 grand not 9.

I paid less for my 2010 back in September than what the same thing was going for in the US. I didn't just luck out either - about 5-6 local dealers were selling them at the same price.

Default Vehicle Differences

Part of the issue for the jacked up Canadian prices is that they are not identical vehicles. Vehicles have to pass either the American or Canadian Gov't regulations. There are differences. My neighbour has worked at the GM truck plant in Oshawa for years (now the Camaro plant) he was telling me that there are a lot of differences for trucks sold here and sold in the US; such as exhausts, windshields, some engine and brake components. Apparently the Canadian gov't has imposed a lot of needless extra expense on Canadian Trucks. All the booklets and advertising, manuals have to be written in both French and English even if the trucks are not destined to Quebec.

We are still getting hosed as Canadians and mostly by our own Gov't

We need to get rid of quebec, deal with the aboriginals once and for all and cut way back on immigration. Then maybe bomb the hell out of some place to help get the oil prices down.

Recently priced a cam, springs and 1.6 rockers at 500 US from Jegs. Price from a GM dealer here in Ontario was 1700 minus my discount which brought it to 1200 or something. I said I can have it shipped to my door for less than 800 all in - he said he couldn't buy it from GM for that.

This has to change.
