Default Canadian buyers continue to get gouged.

2 trucks built on Ford sites, optioned the same US$46355 & Can$55019 + taxes for both. Free trade is working really well...

Actually... no.

http://www.x-rates.com/

USD = 1.01337 CAD... that would be pretty close to the same value. Wonder if it has to do with the Canadian tax rates...

Probably because they are built in the us now. We used to get them from the oakville plant. But they all seem to be Detroit now.

Can't you buy here in the US? When I bought my Subaru the dealer web page had a section detailing the process of buying here for a Canadian and it was pretty simple- as long as the vehicle is built in the US, there aren't any import taxes, just a few hundred in duty/environmental taxes.

I live in Montana, about 2 hours south of the Canadian border (and my Mrs is the Book Keeper at our local Ford dealership)....Canadians can purchase USED vehicles in the U.S. but U.S dealers CANNOT sell NEW vehicles to Canadians. It has to do with international trade agreements.
