Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

It would be so nice if they just allowed you to pick what your default is, and have it be the drivers choice, not fords choice. Problem solved

Tesla can write software that provides self-driving nearly autonomous cars...

Microsoft/Ford can't seem to work out selecting and remembering audio inputs on the stereo.

Maybe that's one of the reasons my Tesla stock picked up in 2012 has gone from $35 to $270, and the Ford stock I bought at the same time has gone from $10 to $12.

Default 4.6 update

I did the 4.6 update about a month ago. The directions for doing the update from ford were crap and not accurate. But I found someone on YouTube and the step by step they posted were closer to what it took to get the stupid thing to update. Everything was great for about a month Bluetooth was finally fixed, I was ready to trade the truck off on that annoyance alone.

Well I received a text while listening through the Bluetooth connection and The stupid radio decided it was not going to work at all any more. Well after 3 master resets, and 2 reboots it finally reconnected. I did the same thing the fifth time I did on the first it just decided to work again.

Lets hope it stays working this time.

It really is mind boggling how poorly the whole system is designed and executed. Needless to say the lack of support for a vehicle that probably had a sticker price well into the $30,000 range.

The system in my wife's Grand Cherokee is light years ahead of the crap in my truck. Pretty sad since they are the same year you can't blame it on advancing technology, just poor engineering.

well fellas, I broke out of Sync hell and bought myself a pioneer double din. Flawless bluetooth reconnects, works every time, you know....like it should.

See you on the other side.

asked my sync system to connect to "bluetooth audio" 12 times yesterday within a 2 hour period running errands. wife was annoyed more than i was by the end of the trip...

Edit:
Just updated to 4.6 and the update seems to have cured the problem. Sync defaulted to bluetooth audio steam. Will update throughout the week to see if this sticks.

The update process is took my onto the Ford Owner website and I needed to register my vehicle to get access to the update. It required me to download the update zip file to my desktop and save onto a thumb drive, then plug thumb drive into the USB slot on the SYNC system. If anyone needs instructions, the Ford Owner website does a pretty good job with instructions.

It's good to go. Was in and out of the truck all week. Songs pick up right where I left off. Even overnight to next morning. Very happy.

Oh Sync, how do I love thee...

Oh... wait... I don't.

Best failure yet yesterday!

Jump in the truck, defaults to FM radio (of course it does, the fact that I have not once actually used FM radio in this truck is not relevant to Sync!), hit the button... No "Sync, Say a Command", just the chime. So I say "Bluetooth Audio"... the system does it's double "you fail" beep, then proceeds to say "or if using, or if using, or if using turn-by-turn directions, say, say, say next turn or, or, or" and then chiming again.

Then Sync just crashed so hard that I had to pull over and pull the fuse in a parking lot.

Go home Sync, you're drunk.

I'm so ready to trade this truck in, and it won't be on another Ford. Sync is a solid 50% or more of the reason.

Yup, this happens to me all of the time. With the iPad dash it really sucks...

It really sucks knowing we all got 'scammed' being test rats for FoMoCo.
