Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

That was the only useful feature I saw that 4.6 adds over 4.4. Too bad 4.6 broke features that I use regularly.

It's documented in one of the 4.6 threads, but, basically, it looks like they changed the Bluetooth profile Sync is using, so my phone (Windows Phone 8.1) no longer sees it as a headset. I can still make and receive calls, but because it's not seen as a headset, Cortana won't activate, so it won't read incoming texts or allow me to dictate replies (I also can't use voice commands with Cortana if my phone is connected to Sync).

There's another thread where someone was having a similar problem with iOS/Siri and Sync 4.6.

Reinstalling 4.4 restores the functionality I need, so I'm back running on 4.4.

Yep, I can confirm that it's doing the same thing with iOS - I can press and hold the Home button on my iPhone, and it 'shifts' over to the microphone, but I can't dictate.

But that's ok...I'm sure they'll restore the functionality in an update in 2018 or so.

Throw my vote in as another wishing sync could default to bluebooth. I don't understand how I can speak 10 sentences to my phone and it inputs them mostly correct, but I say "Bluetooth Audio" the exact same way every time and Sync understands it maybe 1 out of 5 times. "Bluetooth Audio" "Line in, is that correct?" "BLUE TOOTH AUDIO" "Line in" "$#@%$#"

My favorite is how Sync can suddenly understand me when connected to Pandora but it can't understand the same effin thing when it's trying to load it from a USB drive.

"Play Artist Turnpike Troubadours" can get me virtually anything, including Turnpike Troubadours, from my USB drive.

"Play Station Turnpike Troubadours Radio" on Pandora works 100% of the time.

I've had the same frustration regarding the loss of Siri. I have no idea what version of Sync I had before updating. It's a 2013 Explorer Base with Basic Non-MFT Sync.

How can you revert back to an earlier version of Sync?

For at least the non-MFT Sync 4.4 and 4.6, the "upgrade" process appears to be a wholesale replacement of files rather than updates to individual files, so to roll back to 4.4, all I did was put my USB drive with the 4.4 files in the USB slot and used the "Install Software" menu command.

I can't guarantee that it'll work (and you obviously need the install files for the previous version), but I've successfully "upgraded" from 4.6 to 4.4 twice with no apparent ill effects. Ironically enough, since my last 4.6 -> 4.4 upgrade, 4.4 has been more stable than ever before (cue ominous music and APIM bursting into flames in 3...2...1...).

How messed up is it that I'm now looking forward to new failures from Sync?

Also, how much of a coincidence can it be thay the latest happened 5 miles past my 36k coverage?

Jump into the truck to head home, tell Sync "Call Dad". Sync responds with "to place a call, say call followed by the name to whom you are placing the call". No ****ing joke. It persisted until I pulled over to do a master reset.

Good one Sync. I think the Pioneer is going back into the dash soon.

not sure how I never saw this thread before. I was getting so sick and tired of using a male/male wire from my phone to the audio input on the dash to use my amazon music. Earlier i was like there has to be a way to stream amazon prime music through bluetooth. Ended up finding it and my god I wish i had found this so much sooner. It's great to listen to music that has base in it and not have to have the volume near 75% when its connected via the wire. But constantly loosing the connection in my 2014 with basic radio/sync and my s7 edge drives me insance.
